When You Brush Your Teeth

Do You Wet Your Toothbrush First And Then Apply Toothpaste....

OR, Do You Apply Toothpaste To The Brush.... And Then Wet The Brush?

I alway wet my toothbrush first as I find the toothpaste often falls off the brush when I add water after.... I asked my husband what he does( been married 40 years and this subject never came up ) and he said he wets his toothbrush AFTER applying the toothpaste...

WHO WOULD HAVE KNOWN????!!!! I learned something about my partner that I never knew!

I was never taught to "wet my brush" at any time when brushing my teeth. Been brushing with a 'dry' brush since childhood.

Wet only the other way is just to rough even if a soft brush.

Since I use a natural homemade powdered paste,

I must wet first for it to stick.

I wet my brush first, then apply toothpaste. Then I brush. I also wet my brush several times while brushing if using a manual toothbrush.

I use an Oral B electric toothbrush. I do not add water. I put a small amount of toothpaste on the toothbrush, put it in my mouth & start brushing. There's enough moisture once I start. At least like that I don't have it running all over my face. LOL!!!

I also find some people use far too much toothpaste. If you use a regular toothbrush you don't need a strip of toothpaste all across that brush head. The Oral B is has a small round brush head.

I never wet my brush at all. The toothpaste I use says don't wet toothbrush.

This was actually a question on the old "Hollywood Squares" back in the Peter Marshall days!! How I remember this, I have no idea. The answer that the ADA said at that time was to wet the brush first for better results.

I have no idea how I remember this when I can't remember what I ate for lunch today!!

I have always wet my brush first and I also add water during the brushing and spit several times into the sink. My DH does not spit until the end and it gags me to even think of that!

Interesting question, as I was thinking about this the other day.

I used to get the toothbrush wet before, put the toothpaste on it, then another quick splash of water.

I honestly have absolutely no idea why I did it that way.

But there came a day when I questioned that. Sadly, I do not remember why that was either.

But, at that point, I stopped with the water. Just toothpaste on the brush and brush the teeth.

I am somebody who tends to have purpose to pretty much anything I do, so there must have been a reason for it. But, since my memory is going away at a rapid pace, I just don't remmeber what that reason was.

I always wet mine after applying tooth paste. However, I believe it is whatever suits you. Being a dental assistant for 30 years, it really doesn't matter either way, as long as you brush and floss daily!!!!!

heard this on my radio station I listen to daily. They had a poll this morn on the radio, last word I heard the leader was toothbrush, wet, put on toothpaste and wet the toothbrush again brush
