Ok- My daughter got engaged Christmas night. We are all so excited and the planning- and apparently family drama is well underway. My sister in law has assumed my niece- who is 7 years older than my daughter- and has 3 children was going to be in the wedding. The girls used to be close- but over the years their lives have changed dramatically. My daughter was in my niece's wedding but that was 8 years ago. My son was also in her wedding.

Well- my son got married 4 years ago and his wife didn't choose my niece- because they had only met once and my niece lived on the other side of the country. One strike against us- apparently. She had her sister as maid of honor and her 2 best friends and my daughter- her future sister in law.

Now my sister in law and my niece and her family have moved out here in the same state as we live. Once in a while my daughter and niece will go to a movie- but that is it. They live totally different lives and really have nothing in common.

Yesterday my sister in law asked me who my daughter had chosen for her bridal party. I told her that she had chosen my daughter in law ( her sister in law)- they are very close and her future sister in law- her fiancee's sister- her maid of honor will be her best friend. Only the three girls. They want a small bridal party and she has other friends that she could also ask but her fiancee only has a couple guy friends he feels comfortable asking- so they decided to keep it family for the most part. My daughter wanted a balanced wedding party - and a small party. My sister in law- in no uncertain terms told me her daughter will be devastated AGAIN ( apparently she was upset about my son's wedding although she never said ) and as family- we are DONE

Well what she didn't know and I didn't feel was my place to say- is that my daughter had been thinking about having my niece's two older boys be ring bearers or mini ushers. Now- I don't know what to do- I think my sister in law is being a bully and my daughter has every right to choose who she wants to stand up with her.

Any thoughts?
