Other mandatory conditions set forth by the USOC:

An email laid out the other following mandatory steps for USA Gymnastics to avoid immediate decertification:

An interim board must be in place by February 28. No one currently serving on the board is eligible to be an interim member except the five athlete representatives.
USA Gymnastics then has 12 months to replace the interim directors. Current board members are not eligible for those seats, either.
Also within 12 months, USA Gymnastics must cooperate with the independent investigation into whether anyone knew about athlete complaints of Nassar's abuse and failed to report them.
The new board must 'substantively discuss' at each of its meetings how the federation is progressing in implementing 70 recommendations made by former federal prosecutor Deborah Daniels and report back regularly to USOC.
All USA Gymnastics staff and board members must complete SafeSport training offered by the US Center for Safe Sport within three months.
All staff and board members must complete a comprehensive ethics training unit within the next six months.

USA Gymnastics said in a statement posted on its website that the body 'completely embraces the requirements outlined in the (email)'.

So many people who had no knowledge of what was happening are going to be swept up & thrown out, it's a shame but I don't know what else can be done since confidence in their leadership is gone. The fallout continues at MSU & the MI AG will announce an investigation into the MSU Nassar report soon, who knows what criminal charges may come from that. The amount of damage this evil man, Dr. Nassar has done is absolutely stunning & there is more to come.

The enormity of this scandal is mind-boggling. So many victims, over such a long period of time, with so many people seemingly "looking the other way."

I realize that many of these young girls are sent away from home for training and are basically at the mercy of adults other than their parents, but it is hard to believe that this could have continued without some adult truly looking out for their best interests.

Heads should roll.

I have absolutely no sympathy for any of them.Everyone of them had a hand in what happened to those girls.They all looked the other way!!

I’m sick & tired of men & women putting profit over what’s right.It happened in Penn State for years over their precious football program.Now It’s happened in Michigan State over gymnastics!! We must do a better job of protecting our children!!

Some people need to be held legally accountable as accomplices. Others need to be fired.Everyone who works with children needs extensive training in how to look out for their best interests!!

While we’re talking about abuse, women need to feel safe in the workplace too. Human resource departments need to step up.Laws need to be passed !!

How many of the girls reported the abuse? I know the first one or two always get thrown under the bus, having been thrown under the bus myself several times.

According to newscasts and one of the girls, it was reported by some as early as 1997. Nothing was done.

He gained these girls trust and confidence, like a predator always does, being their "friend". He told them his was a "technique" he used to benefit their muscular pelvic area and hips to better their gymnastic abilities and aches and pains.

Hard to believe this went on for so many years. Sick. Everyone involved should pay for this.

Just as much to blame or more as Nassar are all those the gymnasts TOLD, who chose to do nothing and are now trying to lie and say that no one ever said a word, and/but they are all pure as the driven snow.

And there will be A Special Place for those PARENTS who refused to believe, for whatever reason, what their daughters told them. Someone said that a father who was told and blew it off and did nothing later killed himself; good - it will be the only validation the daughter ever has. And no one will ever truly know, at that - was he genuinely sorry that his child was molested, or was he just that embarrassed and ashamed by others.

I suffered some abuse (small potatoes as those things go) but never said a word because I believed at the time that my mother would not have believed me, or cared, vs my step-father. Many decades later I brought it up, and she admitted to me that she wouldn’t have believed it. The rest of the life I would have lived at home, until I could move out, would have been hell because in my mother’s eyes I would have “ruined it all.” I’m sure there are Sports Parents who feel the same.

Just an after-thought regarding sports, in general. Sometimes moms should be on the 'look-out'. If the daughter is spending way too much time with 'the coach', way too much practice, never home until late at night. Something could be wrong. Best to ask as many questions as possible, perhaps meet the coach, and the team mates. Ask them how much practice that they are doing, etc., etc. Request a schedule of practice times, etc. 'Take a peek' at practice sessions. We have to be detectives. Or, at least, hire one, if necessary. Better to be safe than sorry.
