Fitting a king size bed pillow into a king size pillowcase?

Am I the only one who has a problem with this? It doesn't matter what kind of sheets (brand, material, etc.), and it doesn't matter what kind of pillows I buy, I always have to struggle, push, pull, and tug to get my pillow into the pillowcase! I don't understand it, as I don't ever have a problem fitting a standard size pillow into its pillowcase.

Of course king size sheet sets come with king size pillowcases. I have tried using a standard pillow in my king size pillowcases, but I don't like having several inches hang over where the pillow ends.

Does anyone else have this problem?

My mom taught me a way to put a pillowcase on that is much easier than tugging and pushing.

You turn the pillowcase inside out then reach inside the case and grab the corners of the pillow then flip the case over using your wrists and then pull it down. Not sure if I described it very well but it really does work.

It makes it so much easier especially with a king size pillow.

Actually I was just changing sheets yesterday and thought the same thing!!! I was having trouble getting the king size pillow in the king size case!!

I think.... the pillows are fluffier/fatter so the cases need to be wider. With the fleecey type of sheet sets, it can be a struggle to get the pillow all the way in the case!!!

I have had a king size bed for 42 years and all types of sheets, flannel, microfiber, percale, fleece and never had an issue, sorry, wish I could help you.

I just don't like King pillows. So if I am buying a sheet set for our CK bed, I'll buy a pack of standard/queen pillowcases for our pillows.

Some king size pillowcases are cut skimpier than others.

I bought a beauitiful set of sheets at Costco that came with 4 oversized king pillowcases They work perfectly!

I have that problem with queen size.

I think its because a lot of the pillows are made fluffier, wider now, not just a skimpy flat foam pillow.

Eventually maybe those that manufacture the cases will catch on like they did with enlarging sheet depths all the way up to 18-20 inch depth.

Our pillow cases need to be "updated" along with all the pillows they make out there.

Until then, I'll be stuffing and pulling along with you!😲

If you want to use your standard or queen pillows inside the king-size cases and not have the case extend out too much then tuck one side of the case inside and over the the pillow then take the other side of the case and fold it under to hide it. Not sure if any of what I just wrote makes any sense at all but if you can understand it then try it.

@akaburtonfan I basically do the same thing. I really don't turn the pillow case inside out I just start grabbing up the sides & reach in & grab the corners & pull the case on.

We have king sheets/cases but use queen pillows. I cannot sleep with a king pillow.

What I hate is the pillow protectors. I have to stuff it on the pillows so I can zip it closed. The zippers keep breaking because of this. I'm sick of buying pillow protectors at $5-$10 a piece.

There is an answer - but you have to do a little work. I just bought 4 new pillows (OMG no, not those My Pillow).........2 from JC Penny and 2 from another place. They are so puffy I'm suffering from neck and shoulder pain. 3 more pillows to go - but I cut a small slit in the end of one pillow and..... over a trash bag pulled out huge handfuls of the stuffing. Re-sewed the pillow casing - and now - rather than throw out new pillows - - - I can sleep without pain. They are your pillows - you can do what you wish with them. I say, make them 'liveable' and easy for your needs.

What works best for me was to invest in a silk pillow protector, or at least a poly/silk ( I like real silk). The pillow will slide in and out of the case easily. I wash the protector once a month and hang to dry.

I just invested in 2 new pillows that are Talalay Natural Latex.

They are fabulous pillows and have lasted over 20 years. Truthfully, I only replaced them because it was embarrassing to know they were that old!!

You can tuck the extra back into the case if you want. I just put the case on the pillow the same way I would put ankle sox on. Or, maybe use a smaller pillow to help you out.
