Easy way to get rid of FROST on windshield

1/3 c lukewarm water and 2/3 c Isopropyl alcohol. Place mixture in a spray bottle and spray your frozen windshield. Keep in car because the alcohol will not freeze. It's a breeze.

When mixing products and putting in a plastic spray bottle --- be sure children don't get their hands on it.

I just use the car's defroster. If the frost is too heavy / the defroster would take too long, I carry a scraper in the glove compartment.

FROSTGUARD......one of the best products on qvc.

have them for myself and have given probably a dozen as gifts.

Is to park it in a garage then you won't have frost!! LOL LOL I am only teasing you I just couldn't resist! LOL Great idea to mix this up and keep in your vehicle because you really can get frost during the day here in CO if you are parked outside.

I heard last night if you rub your windshield with the cut side of a potato or onion, frost won't form. Also dip your key in hand sanitizer to unlock a frozen lock.

Um, be REAL careful with this! Glass expands when it gets hot so you'll definitely break or crack your windshield if the temperature of that water is too warm. I would vote for the ice scraper over this method all day every day.

Where I live ,a young guy actually got a ticket, for letting his car idle ,in his own driveway, to warm it up. All he was trying to do was to clean off the ice from his windshield, and rear window, and he thought it would work better, if the car was warm.

To clarify, gradual warming by a defroster, glass can handle. Hitting it with really warm to hot water expands it too quickly and it cracks.

I watched a Southerner (no disrespect they just don't know) throw a pot of boiling water on their car and they watched the windshield shatter. Great in theory but the science of quickly heating up the molecules gets in your way.

Glass is like your skin. Sit in a hot bath and your pores expand and open. Jump in a cold shower and you get goosebumps as it contracts.

Do it at your own risk.

Prestone makes a windshield de-icer spray that I use. It comes in a spray bottle and you can buy gallon refills. It's great stuff. It's faster and better than scraping and costs pennies per use.

You probably don't even need to have the water warm!

But I, also, got the frostguard cover. Okay, that takes care of the windshield, but your tip is great for the side windows!

I prevent frost on my front window, by putting a metallic car window shade in the inside, and one on the outside. I like to put them on as soon as I get home for the evening. (keep the heat in)

I use this on my side/back windows to defrost. It works great. I keep it in my car. My front car window, see my below post. I have used the foam and the spray. I prefer the spray.

Yes. It's fantastic stuff. A quick spritz and the frost is gone! I've used it for years and have bought at least two of the gallon refills.

i have never heard of this before......

we all do this......get in the car to warm it up and turn on the defrost. i then get out to remove my frostguard.

Often the ticketing is warranted when someone leaves the car running UNATTENDED. You know go outside, start the car and go back in to have another cup of coffee while the car is warming up. It is an open invitation for someone with the intent of stealing a car.
