Not one day passes without receiving wonderful blessings from our loving and generous God. Lord, may I forget the irritations that distract me from Your happiness. Scripture for the day: "Seek the LORD while he may be found, call upon him while he is near." ~Isaiah 55:6 Meditation for the day: God finds, amid the crowd, a few people who follow, just to be near God, just to dwell in God's presence. A longing in the eternal heart may be satisfied by these few people. I can let God know that I seek not just to dwell in God's presence, to be near God, not so much for teaching or a message, as just for God. It can be that the longing of the human heart to be loved for itself is something caught from the great divine heart. Prayer for the day: I pray that I may have a listening ear, so that God may speak to me. I pray that I may have a waiting heart, so that God may come to me. Happy New Year! Today's blessings - a good friend from Church came over - first she invited me to go to Adoration with her, and I went and it was very nice to just be there and adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Then after that hour I invited her for the afternoon and supper and we had a great visit! Linus worked his last Sunday at Northern Tool - he won't work any more Sundays - that's for sure! I sure look forward to his having every weekend off now! Got a phone message when I was gone from a first cousin, who is afraid of going blind - has a lot of eye problems, please say a prayer for Mary. Praying for you all - thanks for praying for us! TEARDROPS IN GOD'S BOTTLE GOD, who saw your yesterdays, Sees all of your tomorrow's. HE sees your pain and heartache, And keeps track of all your sorrows. GOD knows each hurting, lonely child, HE sees the soul that weeps. The righteous tears HE gathers, GOD, in HIS bottle, keeps. Not one will be forgotten, Not one is overlooked. Let me not live a life that's free From "THE THINGS" that draw me close to THEE- For how can I ever hope to heal The wounds of others I do not feel - If my eyes are dry and I never weep - How do I know when the hurt is deep - If my heart is cold and it never bleeds, How can I tell what my brother needs - For when my ears are deaf to the beggar's plea And we close our eyes and refuse to see, And we steel our hearts and harden our mind, And we count it a weakness whenever we're kind, We are no longer following THE FATHER'S WAY Or seeking His guidance from day to day - For, without "crosses to carry" and "burdens to Bear," We dance through a life that is frothy and fair, And "chasing the rainbow" we have no desire For "roads that are rough" and "realms that are Higher"- So spare me no heartache or sorrow, dear Lord, For the heart that is hurt reaps the richest reward, And God enters the heart that is broken with sorrow As He opens the door to a BRIGHTER TOMORROW, For only through tears can we recognize The suffering that lies in another's eyes. Father, please forgive us for all that we have done, that we should not have done, for the things we should have done and did not. Please wipe our hearts clean and make us pure again and free in You. We ask that in the New Year you will Guide us in our Choices and Decision Making so that we will choose wisely with the Help of Your Holy Spirit. Help us to acknowledge you in everything we do and then we will succeed in our Plans. Help us to Delight ourselves in you and you will give us the Desires of our Heart! Help us to Love, show compassion and help others as your Son did. We thank you for the Gift of Jesus and for His life given for our Eternal Salvation and Freedom. We ask all in the Saviour's Name! Father, you are Love and Life. Through your Son, Jesus Christ, born of woman, and through the Holy Spirit, fountain of divine charity, grant that every family on earth may become for each successive generation a true shrine of life and love. Grant that your grace may guide the thoughts and actions of husbands and wives for the good of their families and all the families in the world. Grant that the young may find in the family solid support for their human dignity and for their own growth in truth and love. Grant that love, strengthened by the grace of the sacrament of marriage, may prove mightier than all the weakness and trials through which our families sometimes pass. Through the intercession of the Holy Family of Nazareth, grant that the Church may fruitfully carry out her worldwide mission in the family and through the family.
