Mario Batalli Sexual Misconduct Claims

This story was rumored last night and has broke this morning. Mario will be stepping away for an unspecified period of time from both his businesses and his hosting duties on The Chew. The allegations go back to the 90's and occuring as late as October 2017:

@QVCkitty1 I didn't know he had been missing from The Chew as I haven't watched it in a few years.

Oh wow @Stray that's interesting as it seemed everybody liked him or at least didn't mind being around him.

I remember when the Food Network was first getting off the ground and they had a guest chef show (Chef du Jour(?)) where he almost sliced his finger off. That camera guy did some fancy footwork keeping that carnage off the air as best he could.

celebrity chefs you see/have seen on TV.

That profession is notorious for being ego-driven & controlling...

and isn’t that the MO for sexual harrassment?

Seems Mario is stepping up to the plate and admitting to his behavior-not to specific charges but admitting that he has behaved inappropriately.

What happens now is yet to be seen.

I have never cared for MB , I used to watch the Chew all the time in the beginning and felt he was very arrogant and thought he was all that! As far as these allegations I'm am ki d if surprised I didn't get any impression he was that way. I do feel he should not be on until this is investigated throughly and then proper steps are taken.

@shoptilyadropagain. Mario and Joe Bastianich are good friends. Mario, Joe and Lydia own Del Posto
in NYC.

@sidsmom Yes. The one that surprised me was John Besh. I always liked him and he seemed like such a family man. He resigned from his company and said he would take time to reconnect with his family. Don't know how that's going to work out.

@momtochloe- I met him a number of times at Eataly and went to the opening of the venue. He was very unfriendly and bordered on nasty to the guests. He was very aloof except to very young ladies who fawned over him. Lydia and her son were just the opposite. I've met Mario numerous times coincidentally and he is never friendly and my husband had a bad encounter with him in the old Balduccis. I've met Lydia at Beccos and Ferlidia and she always greets guests and stops at tables. Batali does not usually interact with guests when he is there and that's been my experience. I think there was a class action lawsuit against him re unfair wages at his restaurants. Not sure if the Bastianich family was included. He also has a very sloppy appearance. I just don't care for him, I don't think he's a remarkable Chef nor are his restaurants anything special.

@shoptilyadropagain- yes they have a number of them....I guess the biggest venture is Eataly but the behavior of the Bastianich family is quite different. Joe also has a vineyard but I think it's just the B family as that's what the label states.
