Explosion in the Subway beneath Port Authority Bus Terminal

Details are sporadic right now, is seems the suspect was trying to get on the subway below the bus station. The device was either hand carried or on his person.

Port Authority itself is open but the subways beneath are all re routed or stopped

Suspect in custody.

There is already video up on Twitter showing the explosion. This could have been so much worse.

Device was on a subway platform and exploded prematurely. Two injuries reported, non-life threatening.

Everything is at a standstill. Streets are closed, big problems into the city and around that area.

Bomb suspect is from Bangladesh. He had an explosive vest and possible pipe bomb. Went off prematurely and exploded in commuter passageway.

Police have a name. Male, 37 years old, lives in Brooklyn.

My mother was about to board the subway for Times Square when this happened. Glad everyone is okay and this idiot has been caught.

i can relate to how NYC'ers are feeling. i lived in NYC during the 1970's and the many FALN bombings. it was a scary time.

I worked on Wall Street during those days ... we were evacuated from our building so many times because of bomb scares.

.... and then of course ... there was 9/11 ... I worked two blocks away from WTC.

I was still in Jr High at the time but I remember them well, they were responsible for the Fraunces Tavern bombing, also the Chase Manhattan headquarters a few blocks away and Mobil oil office on 42nd street.

Thank you! I’ve been searching for my post on this.

I just thought by capitalization, everyone was pinpointing

the exact location, not the general structure.
