How do they pick their "color of the year" anyway?

This is how they say the color is chosen.........

Before the Color of the Year is chosen, Pantone’s color experts search and consider hues being used all over the world, often in the fashion and entertainment industries. Once the search is over, Pantone hosts a secret two-day meeting, where these experts can suggest their favorite finds to be the winner. Choosing the Color of the Year is not as simple as picking the most flattering or stylish color, however. According to the executive director at Pantone, Leatrice Eiseman, the color “has to resonate around the world, to express in color what is taking place in the global zeitgeist.” In a press release, the company stated that the Color of the Year “has always been an integral part of how a culture expresses the attitudes and emotions of the times.”

As I mentioned on the earlier thread about this color for 2018, I'm not a purple fan. Actually, I probably only have one or two items in my closet that belong to the purple family.

I like purple...just not too dark....medium range is very pretty. Love lilac....that can be a beautiful color also. Bring it on! So tired of olive greens....or frog green!

Not for me - purple looks awful on me.

I wear colors that complement my skin tone and hair color, not what 'Pantone' says.

Although I'm not a big purple fan, I've always loved the cooler iris (like the flower) shade, which is almost like the darkest shade of periwinkle.

I see that color everywhere when I am looking at winter clothing. Kohl's have gone crazy with it. For some of their women's tops, they have 3-4 different shades of purple. Pretty as it is, it's just not my color.

Deep dark purple is my favorite color. I already own a lot of sweaters and Tee's that color. Even and Isaac M wool jacket
