Have not purchased their buckeyes but the caramel nut dainties are excellent quality and value priced.

I haven’t tried the Buckeyes but I have the dark chocolate sea salt caramels that are scrumptious.

@AnnMarie-1. I don't like peanut butter. I've tried the Christmas chocolates from all 3 shopping channels and find them all to be the quality of what you'd find at Walgreens, sort of hard and waxy. Not really good quality chocolate.

I'm also from Michigan (Detroit). I call them peanut butter balls because I refuse to say the word "Buckeye". You would love these "peanut butter balls"!

I've never tasted the Waggoner's brand of this candy, but I like the ones I make:

1 1/2 ounces white chocolate chips

2 3/4 cups peanut butter

1/4 cup butter

3 cups powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla

1/8 tsp salt

12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips

Microwave white chocolate in bowl on 50%, stirring occasionally, until melted. Cool for 5 minutes. Beat peanut butter, melted chocolate, butter, sugar, vanilla, and salt on medium-high speed with electric mixer (I use my stand mixer and paddle tool) until combined. Roll into 1 - 1 1/2 " balls and place on parchment-lined bakiing sheet. Freeze for 1/2 hour.

Microwave semisweet chocolate on 50% power in shallow bowl, stirring occasionally, until melted. Place each ball on top of a fork and dip into melted chocolate. Place on parchment-lined baking sheet and refrigerate for an hour. Store in fridge or freezer (if you have any left).

Hey, Ann Marie!

They are ok, I suppose, as a packaged type of thing. I buy one of their variety boxes as I really like some of the other pieces in there the most. But those also have the buckeye ones in it and I have purchased just the buckeyes too.

Waggoners is a much better brand than the family's original brand, Harry London or something like that. Geez, my memory.

Anyway, some of my favs in the variety are the milk choc covered marshmallows, milk choc pretzels, haystacks (I love coconut!), and several others in that box including some of the little pieces like the raspberry, key lime, and I cannot remember others right now. The variety has gotten better each year.

A box of those lasts me all year because I will have either one of the bigger pieces or a couple small ones in a day's time as a little treat or after dinner thing.

No. As a born and raised Buckeye, we know how to make killer buckeyes. There is nothing like a homemade Buckeye.

The first time I had one something just tasted meh with it. Then last week I heard the rep say they use peanut butter fudge dipped in chocolate. Ummm, no.

You beat me to it, but I agree, there is no such thing as a good 'manufactured' buckeye candy. They have to be home made, and even then, there are a few things that make or break it, a big one is the chocolate used.

Many home made recipes call for melted chocolate chips, and that is not the best chocolate to use.

I buy Merkins discs, and they are much richer and a more smooth chocolate.

Even candy manufacturers here in Ohio don't get it right. I'd call the factory made pieces what the *ichigan people call them...peanut butter balls. They certainly don't live up to the honor of being called a buckeye!

@Mominohio, Exactly. We have a family recipe that goes back to I don't even know when. I'm 49 and it's the recipe my family has been making since I remember. And yep, we have always melted chocolate discs, not chocolate chips. That makes a huge difference. So funny because in looking at recipes, when I see the melted chocolate chips I too call them peanut butter balls. LOL

One of the younger relatives of mine got on a kick of trying to make them healthier. Yikes. They weren't edible. You just can't mess with that recipe.

I ordered this package back in Dec ember 2015. I really enjoyed them, price was reasonable. I preferred the milk chocolate over the dark ones/I had given half the tin to my 2 younger kids who were visiting me at the time. The only thing I don't like is, there S&H isn't included like QVC. I guess it's not really FREE shipping per say, it's just included in price. I just wished there were a way they could deliver in the warmer months. I'm thinking of ordering their assorted chocolates. I've never tried Harry London's from Q
