A Heads Up

IT Cosmetics has always been touted as "cruelty-free." It has somewhat recently been bought by a large corporation that tests on animals (for over a billion dollars, check Google).

I had bought a whole lot of it when they had that sale two or three weeks ago on beauty products. It was a true sale, as much as 50% and more off on some great products, including IT. So I loaded up for my granddaughters for Christmas, not realizing it had been sold to such a corporation.

I called Customer Service today and she was sweet trying to find information on it. The Q has no information on it, she had to go to Google.

If you do Google, read the information on the product. While Jamie's company did not test on animals, the products are loaded with animal ingredients. Look for "Leaping Bunny" information.

The products I bought are beautiful and I know my granddaughters would love them. But now I have to send it all back because they don't use anything that is tested on animals. I will check all of the other products I bought also, because most likely there is animal testing on most of them also.

If your family (and you) do not have a problem with animal testing and/or ingredients, this won't be an issue for you.

I thought I was done with my Christmas shopping. Obviously far from it.

I hope Josie Maran doesn't do the same thing.

IT cosmetics was sold to L'Oreal more than a year ago possible longer. L'Oreal tests on animals.

Is it cosmetics cruelty free?

IT Cosmetics is PETA-certified and should remain cruelty-free, but it will be owned by a company that tests on animals. ... It's important to note that IT Cosmetics is not a vegan company, as they use animal ingredients such as snail secretion filtrate.Mar 8, 2017 via cruelty free kitty.

I wrote to It cosmetics a few weeks ago because of an article I read on leaping bunny and what they do. This is the response I received:

IT Cosmetics is certified by PETA as a 100% cruelty-free brand, and you will find us listed on their website. Remaining a cruelty-free brand is extremely important to us, as it is to so many of you! IT Cosmetics has never tested products on animals, nor do we use animal hair in our brushes—and we have absolutely no plans to change that. Although our new packaging no longer includes a pink bunny logo, you will find the words “CRUELTY FREE” proudly listed on the side and/or back of your product box, right under the line: “DEVELOPED WITH PLASTIC SURGEONS, CLINICALLY TESTED.” Additionally, we would be happy to pass on your suggestion to our team. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to ask. We love hearing from our IT Girls!

My suggestion was to be certified by leaping bunny.

thanks so much. I ppreciate this info. I will not knowingly suppost cosmetic companies that do this. It is totally unnecceary, why put Gods creatures thru pain and suffering to make makeup, soap, lotion, deodorant, shampoo. It is barbaric.

I know that now. However, they still have animal ingredients in them, e.g., "snail slime," which really isn't something I want to put on my face or mouth.

Their products are lovely, but I'm still sending them all back.

My daughter and I just replaced the IT products with vegan, cruelty-free items (with the leaping bunny logo) online at Ulta and Tarte. Hopefully, they will get here on time.

just a note on the tarte brand ....... this company is also owned by a parent company that tests on animals.....in case that bothers you......

it should be noted that Tarte Cosmetics is cruelty-free but they’re owned by a parent company, Kose, that is not cruelty-free. Some cruelty-free shoppers refuse to buy from brands that are owned by a parent company that test on animals as they feel their money is indirectly supporting and funding animal testing done by the parent company.
