Who is your pick to replace Matt Lauer on Today Show?

I was wondering if you have any favorites that you'd like to see take Matt's place? I am not a big Savannah fan, but don't think she is going anywhere soon, so her and Hoda make a pretty good team. It would be kind of neat to have two women. I am not a big Willie Geist fan. Carson Daly doesn't seem "polished" enough to step in to that position. They have Craig Melvin from the weekend Today, he's pretty good on the weekend with Shenelle Jones, but don't think they'll pick him. I really have no idea who they will pick.

I would love to see Willie Geist; probably time for a generational change. Otherwise, I think Savannah and Koda make a great team. I think the reason Savannah was hired is to analyze legal issues (depending on what develops in 2018, that could be a very important role--which Megan--another lawyer--wouldn't be very good at).

Willie Geist. He's not old school. I doubt anyone owes him favors. Noticed him about five years ago. Likeable. Family important to him. Respects self and others. Married with kids. Honors his parents (dad is journalist while mom is social worker). Political science and French degrees from Vanderbilt. Well informed and asks good questions. Sense of humor. I think he's early 40ish. A new direction.

i cannot say that i have watched "Today" in years, other than to cycle through quickly. I've seen videos or "kinescopes" of the Today Show of the early Fifties, and far prefer the late Dave Garroway and crew to anyone available now.

It would be fun to see them COMPLETELY go off the reservation and my choice would be an old, seasoned print journalist like Dorothy Rabinowitz of the Wall Street Journal. She's got to be past 70, is quirky, sardonic and tough, and I love to see older people, really older people, in authoritative positions like that. Why squeeze them out when they are just peaking in terms of wisdom and all-around savvy?

Or if they wanted to stay in their NBC stable, I'd love Hugh Hewitt. He offers a different perspective than virtually everyone there. He's a learned law professor and sharp thinker. He also is known for his scrupulous manners and courtly and kindly nature. Ol' Hugh is not going to be pushing secret under the desk buttons to trap interns, I'd opine!

Oh well, they won't exactly be consulting me in their choices, but there you have it.

Why do they need to replace him? Why not just use some of his $25 million salary give some to the remaining members and continue forward. If NBC can save 10-20 million a year I say why not ? Let the women run the news show.

No, no, not Shep, ha. Shep i wouldn't mind on a less stiff and structured talk show, or running a very unharnessed, late night show like hilarious Greg Gutfeld does. Shep can be very funny.

I'll stand by my white-haired protoge, the versatile Mr. Hewitt. One man's (or woman's) "pompous" is another man's "cerebral"....
