Unfortunately temptations has a history of cracking and shattering. My meal of chicken cacciatore was destroyed the same way. It is not pretty and darn annoying.

I had my first real "fatality" yesterday while setting the food out. I dropped a full bowl of stuffing that was in one of my temptations pieces. Right out of the oven. Man, oh man, does that stuff send out shards of ceramic. Perhaps because it was so hot, but what a mess. Fortunately, I had plenty of stuffing, but it was a disaster none-the-less.

was at a home yesterday and she had served many of the food items in temptation pieces.

I was thinking same thing if you dropped those pieces it was going to shatter and send out missiles of shards glass everywhere.

I was looking at those pieces yesterday at friends house. Was not impressed with them. They may be heavy strudy pieces but something just didn't impresse me.

Remember pyrex of years ago. they really didn't break if you put them in an oven or dropped them. They were strudy, but they too have gone the way of cheap route. Now if you even ding them they break, can't put them in oven to bake something just to chancey with the dish shattering.

Not Temptations but one year when I was a kid my mom had put out some ceramic plates for Thanksgiving dinner and all the fixings were also placed inside ceramic bowls and dishes. It was a FULL table of food with all the dinnerware and flatware ready to go. THEN SUDDENLY, one of the legs on the dinner table gave way and all that stuff came crashing down! Food, dishes and glasses went flying! It was a disaster. The two dogs we had were having a hay day.

I haven't dropped any temptation items, but a couple of years ago while my house was full of relatives for Christmas dinner, I tripped over my dog and fell on to the open oven door. Luckily I had a towel in my hand to save me from getting burned, but it dislocated the oven door so it would no longer close all the way.

That fiasco ended up with me getting all new kitchen appliances which I love. I guess someone was telling me that it was time to upgrade!

i have dropped an empty temptations piece and it isnt a pretty sight, but PYREX drops are even worse. it breaks into thousands of pieces and the shards are so much more difficult to see.

i have quite a few temptations pieces and have never had one crack with food in it. it has always been a good and reliable brand for me.

Noel 7, Even if you have a dish with just the slightest chip it will break in a hot oven, even cold sometimes. That goes for even ceramic dishes. So be very careful.

So far, so good 😀. Dansk makes wonderful casserole pans which are metal.

Sunshine 45,The Tempt-taion dishes are rock solid, I am very careful, but there have been times I have bang them together and thought I'd chipped them and they are doing great. Now my old "Blue Willow" dishes which I really liked were so crazy fragile I was glad to get rid of. The "Blue Willow" I purched at Bargain City back in the eighties, they were my special occasion , good dishes my Tempt-taion dishes I don't let anyone but me wash them. And I put my Tempt-taion small bowls, and Soup bowls in my air-fryer and they are doing great, but I had the tumblers with the rubber sleeves in the middle to keep your hands from being burned from coffee, or hot chocolate, they did something weird between the walls, black stuff was leaking out the exteria of the tumblers, but the Q. gave me credit on them, and told me not to use them anymore, but didn't tell me what problem was reported.

I only have some bakers and a tea set, so I don't use them on a daily basis. So far I have found them to be quite sturdy. But anything made of ceramics has its limits.

I couldn't figure out how I had managed to drop my dish. I went downstairs to get it from another oven we have, carried it in the wire tray the temptations come with, walked upstairs with no problem and as I reached my counter it fell from my hands. Now, I'm thinking it cracked or began to shatter and then fell. It makes more sense. I will, in the future, be very careful when handling a hot dish. PS: I don't usually bake in these dishes, so it was my first time in this particular dish.
