Name a somewhat common food...

that you have never eaten.

With the big feast day coming close, share what food(s) that might be quite mainstream or normal, that you have never eaten.

There doesn't have to be any reason (or share a reason why!).

For me, turnips and eggplant. Just never have, no reason.

I guess you could add me to the list of turnips, parsnips and any other nips I might have missed.

However, I love eggplant in any shape or form.

Well I have a large list of common foods I have never ate. I won't mention them as I'm sure a lot of you would think I'm weird. LOL!!!

Never ate Lobster. Don't know why.

Never had a Smores either.

Caviar and escargot. Not common in my circle, but pretty common for others. Never have, never will. By sight alone I couldn’t gag either one down.

Eggplant and okra.

My dad had us eating raw turnip slices with salt, as little kids, and we loved them. Both of my grandmother’s loved to cook pots of turnips, parsnips and rutabagas with fresh side meat after we had butchered hogs.

I can't think of anything. I've probably tried everything at least once. And of the things I've tried there are only a few I won't eat again ( escargot and raw oysters).

I've had a bit of a rough day, and I'm a little giddy at this point, but your post has me laughing out loud for real!

I'm thinking I'm right there with you on the funnel cake. Seen it at the fair, but don't remember ever having any!.

Well...maybe I've never had a funnel cake. I think it might be something like fried dough, and I have had that! The first few bites are delicious. A few bites later, you feel like you have a block of grease in your belly.

I almost didn't try funnel cake but did a few years ago.

I like smelling it and looking at it better than eating it!

We made s'mores last month and my mother had never eaten one either @Nightowlz!

I just was really amazed at that but realized well she was never in girl scouts or anything and I guess it just wasn't a common thing back then. I call that a deprived childhood! I was really happy she got to have one and she loved it!

I almost ate a raw oyster when dared to try it-got it up to my mouth but just couldn't do it. My stepmother however made a very good baked oyster casserole.

Mincemeat pie. In Sunday school we were told a story in which I thought I heard “...and they chopped all the bad Romans into mincemeat.” Went to my grandmother’s for dinner and guess what she had made? Yup. Mincemeat pie. I was too scared to say why I wouldn’t eat it. In fact ever after until I was about 50 I avoided any kind of pie with a top crust. Just was not going to take a chance on what might be in there!

Isn’t it funny how we hear things as children and make wild assumptions?

To this day I do not know what mincemeat is...

Never had funnel cake either. No reason.

I honestly can't think of anything that would be a common food I've never tried.

My parents used to go out to eat turtle soup. It's not very common and I haven't had the opportunity to try it. I will some day.

I love raw oysters, okra (fried and boiled), and many of the "odd" foods that others do not like. I've only tried asparagus one time and didn't care much for it. I love eggplant and boiled cabbage, which some people don't like. So, I guess I like just about everything!

Never had rutabagas, parsnips, turnips, butternut squash, green tomatoes, Hungarian goulash, bratwurst, and much more. But I have had many things that would gross some people out, so I won’t mention them.

Ugh............parsnips, turnips and celeriac. My ma used to make me sit at the table until I finished my plate. I remember sitting there until after 9 pm when she finally gave up because SHE wanted to go to bed.
