topic How to find mailman's name to give him a gift? in Community Chat

So I want to give my awesome mailman a gift certificate for all the times he's had to ring my doorbell to deliver something I've ordered that won't fit in my mailbox or that has needed to be signed for. Such a pleasant man!

Thus, to try to find out his name, I tried calling the different numbers in town for the post office and they were all answered automatically (not by humans) and none were accepting messages! How am I to accomplish this other than flagging him down in the street some morning? (Which I don't want to do!) I just want to make a simple call and ask a simple question. Anybody ever do this?

ETA: Never mind. I found an obscure # for the main post office, called it and their automated answering machine gave a 2nd # for the post office in my area that was totally different from what was in the phone book/web site. I called that # & got my info. And just in case anyone's wondering, the limit (as in a gift cert. or money) that they can receive is $20.
