In my entire life, all 62 years of it, I have never wished that someone were dead. I think it's a foreign concept for us to think that way. It should be uncomfortable for us to feel that way.

There have been other horrible people in the news through the years, in our community, around the world, people who have done unspeakable things, and I have been appropriately saddened and angered and supported seeking the appropriate justice for them and have been horrified by their actions.

But Charles Manson is the only person I've EVER WISHED would die, which has always been a really uncomfortable feeling for me, because I wasn't raised to hate and to wish someone dead.

And he finally did.

And this morning as I type this, I'm in tears. Not for him certainly. For his victims, for the true repulsive horror of his acts, for the waste of what his life could have been if he had chosen the correct path and for me to be honest. I'm sad that his death is ok with me.

But it is. He was just so evil. So difficult to see that much evil in someone.

2 things: "Any mans death diminishes me." Not sure about his.

I do not believe in capital punishment. I would like to see the awful. horrible people participate in drug studies. It might be a way to give something back to the community.

He got the death penalty and then CA got rid of it. That’s why he spent years in jail. He should have been put to death when CA reinstated the death penalty.

Good riddance indeed. The world is a better place with him gone. I was traveling a couple of days ago and had lunch at an airport restaurant. Music was playing...then suddenly the song Helter Skelter started. I had an involuntary shiver still, even after all of these years. I thought to myself what is this restaurant thinking? But then I looked around and realized this young group did not realize the dark history/connection between this song and Manson. Gave me the creeps for sure.

There are those who make bad choices and then after several years away from drugs and other bad influences live to regret what they did. Not him. Evil, criminally insane individual.
