Mike Rowe was the best thing that ever happened to QVC It was obvious to everyone, including Mike, that he was ill-suited for the job but what a hoot while he was there. He was much too talented to be stuck at QVC.

A couple years ago someone recommended the Mike Rowe you tube videos of his QVC days....(he was a host way before QVC came to my cable channel)..... Those videos are just way toooooooo funy LOL!

I loved to watch Mike Rowe. I watched when he was on. With all the talk of some of the more recent others who left and were headed for bigger and better things so far he actually is the only who left and MADE IT.

The only Mike Rowe that I am familiar with had a tv show called "Dirty Jobs". I have seen him many times and he has set up some type of school(?) for young people not interested in going to college, but want to get into skilled labor.

He is a man of my heart, as I have never or will ever understand why parents seldom say, "We are saving for our child's path to a skilled labor job". It is always, college/college, college. On one show I watched that he was on, he said there are over 5.5 million skilled labor job openings, almost all 6 figure ($$$$) jobs, but not many with the needed skills.

College may be great, for some, but why most of my life I have heard, and keep hearing "saving for our child's college"? Lots of young ones with degrees, but no job in whatever field they chose to spend that money.

Gotta check that out on Utube, Mike to me is one funny, and very practical man, who is also "well educated", by books and real life experience.

I so agree with you! I think Mike is an awesome guy -- a straight shooter. Plus, he is intelligent, caring, funny and not bad on the eyes!

This is so true. Of course, some are better suited to college and the jobs that those prepare a person for. But we are now having such a shortage of workers such as electricians, plumbers, etc. And these jobs bring a very nice salary! College is not for everyone and college does not guarantee a job or success. There are other routes out there and it is so great that Mike is calling attention to this.

Mike seems like such a good guy. Check out the you tube video where he is singing My Way on QVC in the early 90's. ***swoon*** Hahaha - can you imagine - just toss aside the selling and instead, sing !?! Now that's entertainment.

As if you couldn't love Mike more, he learned his love for narration by --- grab a tissue --- reading for the blind for an Eagle Scout project!

I know FaceBook can be a sewer, it's all in how you use it, but Mike has a terrific FaceBook page and a new show called Returning the Favor only broadcast on FB. The last one I saw showed him going back to his hometown of Baltimore, hooking up with his parents, who are precious, and helping a teacher who set up a warehouse for used/unused school supplies for teachers to get for their classroom. Think food bank but instead of food, it's filled with supplies.

He made sure the warehouse was reorganized, added $20k of new supplies and paid the rent for a year. He made a few teachers cry. BTW both his parents are retired teachers.

@hckynut- He's set up a foundation, not a school. The foundation, MikeRoweWorks, gives scholarships to trade schools. It's done very well- And he's right, not everyone is cut out for college, not everyone wants to go. Trade schools-

Mike is so much funnier than any of the late show guys on right now-Fallon, Kimmel, Colbert and the rest can't hold a candle to him---LOL!

He should really be on late night!

I watched the videos and he was certainly cute but he seemed so bored with his job.I did notice that he didn't find the need to buy multiples of any items for the gift closet.

Thank you for clarifying that for me and others that may have read my post. Knew he had done something to help those wanting to get into the trades as opposed to college. I have admired Mike since i first saw him on his TV show " Dirty Jobs". Anyone that would do all those types of jobs deserves to at least be recognized by us blue collar workers.

Sadly there are current hosts who seem to be bored with their QVC host job but they are not as entertaining....LOL!
