I prefer medium-weight towels because they don't take so long to dry in the the dryer. Years ago I used to buy thick towels because I thought they were better somehow. Not so much now and I'm saving money on my electric bill and the life of my dryer.

I like my towels light and fluffy, not too gigantic. Years of search and use have lead me to the perfect product - bath towels by Lennox, they are pricey ( I buy them in their outlet) but the best and they last forever!!! I wash them after 2 days of use and do not use softener ( it ruins good cotton)

Most heavy thick towels made today simply don't dry the body, in my experience. And the super thick washcloths take forever to rinse the soap out of, and become a pain in the shower.

I like the big thick towels to hang for 'looks' in the bathroom, but prefer an old fashioned feeling and performing towel more in the medium weight/thickness.

Many of today's towels are simply useless in my opinion. They don't dry you off, and they pick and snag from the first washing, leaving lint all over the washer and dryer ( and heaven forbid you wash anything with them).

My older towels from the 1970's and 80's still perform better than the new stuff I've tried in this last year (and I've tried a whole lot of them).

During the summer months, my "top of the line towels", that were purchased at Penny's, are put away. They are thick, super absorbent, soft and do not "shed" in the dryer.

I do not use them in the summer as the humidity does not allow them to dry quickly. I do not want wet towels hanging around as they may turn "sour" before they get washed.

For the the summer months, I use very thin, Turkish cotton hand and bath towels.

I've been using those heavy BIG towels that I bought at Costco for my shower every morning - some are 20 yrs old and still kicking. I use them one time -- and in the wash they go. I also keep a small hand towel in my bathroom - and change it every day. I also have a large lightweight towel on my towel rack in my bathroom - and wash once a week - as I don't use it much.
