I am not terribly informed about the geography of the east coast.

If you live in a place called Long Island, Staten Island, Jersey shore, or any coastal areas, would it be safe to assume you may need flood or hurricane insurance?

I know we are offered flood insurance every time we renew our policy. We are not in a flood plain, so it is not promoted much. It's probably inexpensive for here, so maybe we should get it anyway!

I ask because I saw a man interviewed who said they didn't have flood or hurricane insurance. I believe he was one of the "island" areas in New York.

I know there were probably some areas inland that no one thought were prone to flooding. But, what about the areas that are near water?

Hyacinth
