I returned a item this morn and failed to use the prepaid label because it would be cheaper. Well the pkg cost over $8.00. I was shocked. I will always use the prepaid label from now on $6.95 is much less than $8.65. I learned my lesson.

It depends on weight & distance. I am in Philly and I never use the prepaid label for small items. If I pay up front it is cheaper, my return gets to QVc quicker and I get my refund quicker. So for me paying up front is the way to go.

I learned my lesson a long time ago - never buy clothing! It never fits and I hate to pay for the privilege of trying something on!

I always check the weight and cost of the item before choosing to pay or use the Q's return label. Annoying, I know.

@I am appleblossom Here's what I do when I think I can return it cheaper - take both the prepd and your own label, head to the USPS and have them check it. Send accordingly.

If I combine orders then it's cheaper to use my own label....not to mention much faster!

I usually use my own label which I attach. I ask the post office to weigh it and if it is more than the prepaid label, then I paste the prepaid label over my own label.

Carefully check your refund when you get it. They usually charge you the $6.95, even though you paid for the shipping. Call and tell them to remove it.

I do my reaserch on line to figure out the most economical way to send things back to Q. Flate rate envelopes work a lot of the time- I also use prioirty A or priority B for multiple returns in one package (you need to get these boxes [for free ] from usps.com). I don't pay more than $7 to return items; whether it be the flat rate envelope or the priority A or B box. The timeframe for delivery is also MUCH better than Q's return label.

I've tested it and found the return label is the cheaper option for me. I don't even check anymore. My returns as of late are due to defective. I don't have many other returns, but they are sent with the prepaid label.

Using my own label doesn't include insurance so that's another $2 charge minimum on top of the label fee. Unless I'm returning something small and light the prepaid label is always cheaper--not to mention much more convenient.

eta - last week I sent a greeting card across country. I wanted it to get there quickly so I sent it priority. The cost was $6.65 but it did get there in 2 days.

And cards can not be insured.

@I am appleblossomdid you insure the package? Depending on the value of the packages contents it can cost quite a bit more than 6.95 to return a package to the Q if you insure it. I wouldn't think of returning anything of worth without insuring it.

@SusieQ_2 If you return on your own at USPS you need to ask if your payment does or does not include some insurance because mine always do if I pay my way. There's $50 ins attached regardless how much it costs to send. So be sure you check this out.
