I am in Italy now and I am watching it on tv.I wonder why Italy never had a similar attack.Probably because it would cause a stop to the huge amount of people coming by boat.

It happened at the Mandelay Bay hotel and casino on the 32nd floor, by a local guy who is now dead.

12 victims in critical condition.

At least 20 dead.

Over 100 injured.

Tragic, so tragic.

They are looking for this dudes girlfriend.

Vegas is a soft target, sin city and all, but you can't go two feet and not be on camera.

Vegas has cameras all over the place, both inside and out.

I was in Vegas about five years ago at the pyramid hotel/casino, the one with the beam of light on top.

I forget the name.

With all of the cameras, at that time that I was there, I felt safe.

No othrr shooters.

Lone wolf.

My hotel was right next to the Mandelay Bay, and in fact, there is a walkway that connects the two hotels/casino.

Tragic.

The Luxor hotel/casino which is the one that I stayed at is right next door to the Mandelay Bay.

I remember that my room looked out towards Las Vegas airport.

I remember watching the lights on the airplanes lined up, ready to land.

The venue where this tragedy took place, is on the same side of the street as the airport, and if I am not mistaken, it is (relatively) close to it.

Which means, even though I didn't know it at the time, my room looked out on the venue where this took place.

This whole thing makes me so sad.

What a sad story. I was in Las Vegas about a month ago. And exactly a year ago I was also in Las Vegas too.

There are people on the strip at all hours of the day and night. This time of the year Las Vegas is still really hot during the daytime so a lot of people go casino hopping in the evening as the sun sets fairly early so it cools down a bit and it's more comfortable for walking on the strip at night.

Just some personal thoughts.

I feel a little shooken up and creeped out knowing that I had been inside the Mandelay Bay a few years ago, something like this never crossed my mind not even once.

Like I said, at the time, I felt safe because of all of the cameras.

I don't think that people will safe there again.

Again, my thoughts and prayers goes out to the victims and their loved ones.

One thing about the hotels/casinos is there are no metal detectors or x-rays to screen people as they check in.

I don't know if implementing that would be practical or not, but that is a different discussion for a different time.

My husband and I visited the Mandalay Bay casino last month. We usually visit Las Vegas with friends and they always like to go there when they casino hop by car. But this time we were in Las Vegas by ourselves so we took an uber ride to Mandalay Bay and basically walked back north to Planet Hollywood where we were staying by casino hopping and staying inside because of the heat outdoors. It was over 100 degrees during the day the first week in September. Even at night it was so hot because the heat radiates off the pavement.

I think last year we also walked by that same country music venue when they were getting out because it was about 10 at night and there were a bunch of people getting out of a giant field on the east side of Las Vegas Blvd and they were all wearing cowboy hats.

I don't know how people will feel about Las Vegas after this. I imagine that people will be a lot more cautious.

Those poor people were just mowed down. Soft targets just listening to music... No where to run.

I'll never understand this type of violent response from anyone. If you're upset...lift people up, make change. If you feel aggrieved don't complain...advocate and work for the positive that will make lives better.

When did being able to agreeably disagree with our opposites in a peaceful way suddenly become unacceptable? Or maybe I'm just naive.

Las Vegas, Nevada has some type of open gun law I think, from what I read.....jeez....

Exactly, I don't believe that either. They are way too far gone. But what I do think we can do is to try to deflate the vitriol. I remember my family used to be so opposite but we could talk about it and go to opposite sides. Nowadays people are so wrapped up in being right they can't let other people have another opinion.

I leave for Vegas in 9 days. I'm going to a country music concert- Rascal Flatts on Friday the 13th. The concert is indoors at the Venetian but I'm sure everyone will be extra cautious.

I think there were a couple other shootings in Vegas recently. Also someone ran over pedestrians on the strip. You can bet I'll be very aware of my surroundings at all times.

There are so many evil people in the world. These stories also bring to light the good people in the world. I heard a man was taking injured people to the hospital in his car. A lady had people hiding under her car & they used her car to take a bleeding man to the hospital. Another lady offered to drive, she was a Metro driver, they got there really fast.

I hope they catch the woman- not sure if she's involved but scary to have her on the loose.

I just cannot imagine what it must have been like to hear the automatic rapid gunfire, and not knowing where it is coming from, and not knowing which direction to run.
