I've written about Selena before, it's so sad because she is so young.

She tries to teach others about Lupus, as do others of us. She had to be very careful while taking chemo this summer. It could be devastating for her to come down with a virus, actually all those with lupus have to be careful. It's painful when some around us don't understand that.

I wish her the best, I know she has loving people around her, that's a good thing.

@sidsmom I would have to be honest and say I don't think so. I don't consider myself a hypochondriac but what if I need both down the road? I know from watching some shows you do have some limitations with one kidney. Nothing life altering but they are there.

I'm not so sure I have anyone in my life barring my sisters that I would potentially compromise myself to that degree for. I'm disappointed and proud of myself at the same time. What a thought provoking question.

I can't give a kidney, I have Lupus, they don't even want my blood.

Lupus attacks all organs, heart and kidneys preferred. Mine attacks my heart, often. So far, I've dodged the bullet with my kidneys, but my daughter worries and assures me she will provide a kidney. I adamantly say NO, Lupus can run in families and she may need all the kidneys she has.

I don't have a systemic kidney disease but I did lose one kidney due to disease. My only limitation is to have regular doctor visits, which include lab work to keep up with my kidney function. I also have ultrasounds quarterly. It's done to be proactive. I can't afford to have any kind of infection or any problem that could compromise the remaining kidney.

Makes me really sad. But she is such a testiment to other young ladies.

I had cancer I cant give one the way I understand, but if I could I would give it to my kids or grandkids, no friends because what if I gave one to my friend and my kids or grandkids needed it then?

I was wondering how they do this. The info doesn't say she was ever on dialysis. The reason I wonder is, an acquantice of our families (a young lady) needs a kidney and is on dialysis and suffering for a long time. (her parents both had cancer so they cant give)

I thought dialysis comes first. I'm NOT insulting her, and do not mean that ugly I'm just wondering because I thought dialysis comes first..

I wish Selena well. She is so young. PS I just saw pics of her in NYC (on the net), so she had to have gotten the kidney a litle while back.

I was simply stunned. The report I read said that her kidney failure was due to Lupus.
