Cheap Wallyworld solar lights for emergencies

Just a quick note that cheap solar lights - about a buck each at Walmart- can be a real help in power-outage situations. Charge them up during the day, then bring them inside at night ( take them off the stakes). Cheap, effective and SAFE! (Cover with a box when you're ready to sleep.) Hope this hint helps someone.

I bought these "Luci" lights made by a company called MPOWERD. These are solar lights that inflate or come flat if you need them that way. They float in water. They measure around about the size of a CD. You wouldn't believe how long they hold their charge. The guy who invented them made them for people in places around the world who don't have electricity. I own four of them. They are awesome!

The MPOWERD company has made generous donations of their lights to the hurricane victims here and over seas.

@SilleeMee Thanks for posting this! Went to the website purchased 2 for me & made a donation of lights too...they have a Give option that's easy to do, how great is that. It's hard to believe that over 3 Billion people on this planet still have no reliable assess to electricity, with all the money that's been squandered it's just unforgivable. The company is also donating to victims of the hurricanes, I'm impressed & adding them to the charities I donate to.

@Kachina624 You can do that. I think the OP was just offering an idea for people who hadn't thought of using solar walkway lights, or for anyone who doesn't know you can get them cheaply at WalMart.

Thanks, @mistriTsquirrel, that's exactly what I was trying to convey, that for a dollar or so one can have a safe, effective light source. I'm hoping that most readers understood that, lol.

I don't own any, so that would be something I'd have to go to the store to get.

I just used these $1 solar lights when my power went off for a few hours. They are bright and it saves my batteries for other things.

@PenneyT, thanks for the great idea! Cheap, simple and effective. I have walkway lights and that's where they need to stay. I don't want to go out to bring the lights inside and then have to reinstall them. You never know when the power will go out. It's usually during a storm and/or already dark and I don't want to go messing with outdoor lights. I'm going to buy the cheap solar lights from Walmart and leave them in a cluster in the sun near my patio.
