Does the southern channel have different locations? I've been tuning in from time to time and it appears that their Tampa programming is live.

HSN broadcasts from Tampa/St. Petersburg (west coast), and JTV broadcasts from Tennessee.

I would expect HSN to broadcast live at least all day today - they are on the west coast of Florida and hours north of the Keys and Miami where Irma is due to hit first. Unless their studios are on the water, it's not likely they are in an evacuation area, so maybe they will stay on the air even tomorrow assuming they have electric power.

I was wondering the same thing about HSN.

By the way, for those that do not know, there was a time when forum rules prevented us from mentioning the names of other shopping channels. HSN was the Southern Channel and what is now called Evine was the Northern Channel. That was our "typing in code" way.

St. Petersburg is located in Evacuation Zone A and that zone has mandatory evacuations right now for all residents and people in mobile homes. It includes the entire downtown area, coastal communities and barrier islands.

The St. Pete/Clearwater airport closed at 11:00 this morning and won't re-open until further notice.

@Lipstickdiva Wow, I didn't realize they had mandatory evacuations that far NW. Now I am wondering about HSN. I can't imagine they would allow their employees to be put in jeopardy.

She also says in the comments (someone named "Erica") that they are going to show "Best of HSN" a lot to give crews rest while they broadcast out of their Tennesee studios.

We may air some Best of HSN content periodically between Sun-Tues while our teams work between our backup studios in Nashville and home studios in Florida. This will allow them the opportunity to transition and rest during this hectic time. Thank you for your patience and good wishes!

Honestly, I think a lot of people will go to HSN/QVC, etc. to take a break from storm coverage.

The weather models, and the gov of FLA, have stated that Irma's path is wider than the entire state, so I would think the storm has very real potential to flood much of the state. We can only hope they over-estimate, but right now it's like FLA could be toast, flooding-wise :-(

Just a point of information - not ALL of St Pete is "located in Evacuation Zone A." There are different evac zones in St. Pete just like other Fla. cities. Lower lying zones (A, B...)are called to evacuate first. Other zones may be called to evacuate later, or not at all. My DIL is a native of St. Pete, and her mom has chosen to stay in her home in Largo, north of St. Pete. So far, only Zone A in her area has been told to leave. She lives in a multi-story building further inland, not zone A, so it's up to the residents if they want to leave. Her daughter wanted her to leave, but she feels safe. We'll see.

@MoonchildeI think the concerns for the central area of the state are more for wind damage and tornadoes. For example, you're not going to see storm surge in Orlando. The surge may be high, but it's not like it washes over the whole peninsula. And Irma doesn't carry the huge amount of rain that Harvey did in Texas. But the central part of the state could definitely see a LOT of wind damage depending on how much Irma downgrades as it moves up the peninsula. The folks who are staying are going to be living without electricity and a lot of necessities of life for a quite a while. And Florida in September is really, really hot.

It's midnight here central time, Saturday am, host just said they are about to shut it down. And they should. Selling a light bulb should not take priority over peoples' lives.
