SAndra Bullock's generosity

ACctress Sandra Bullock has donated 1 million dollars to the Red Cross to aid in relief efforts for Harvey. SHe has donated generously in the past with a million dollars donated to the Red Cross after 9/11 and after Katrina. SHe also donated a million to Doctors Without Borders after the hurricane in Hati.

It is a wonderful thing she has done, what I do not understand is why would she or the place she donated to give the amount she gave. That to me is tacky, when I donate to a cause I do not go and tell people how much I gave.

Thank God for people like her. We need more of them to step up. Wish I had that kind of money to help people.

IF she is generous enough to donate that kind of money to the Red Cross she has my permission to be as tacky as she wants to be.

Word gets out, she most likely does not handle her own finances.

I don't understand why some people always have to find a way to dump on those who do good. THAT is what's bad form and is an obvious attempt to make themselves look better than the one who gave generously.

Although I agree that I don't need to know how much people give, I imagine that people follow them and will then be prompted to also give. Imagine if everyone who followed the Kardashians (who donated $500K) made a $10 donation.

i do think people were upset with Kevin Hart who said he was giving $25K (heard later $50K - a pittance to him) and then called out other celebrities to do the same. As if Beyoncé - a TEXAN from HOUSTON - wouldn't already be planning on giving significantly more. That's more tacky, IMO.

Dumping on those generous people is kind of like bringing up the minority of people who take advantage of the situation rather than talking about the good people helping each other through such horrific adversity.

My point is that everyone is jumping up and down over ONE celebrity. Sandra is a nice person; I've even seen her in Austin.

I'm sure many rich people will be donating either publicly or discreetly.

As long as the suffering people are being taken care of now and in the future, I really don't get all excited over people with big bucks donating.

As it has been stated, people can give or not give. It doesn't matter to me about income.

I am not jumping up and down. Just stating that as far as I'm concerned there can be 2000 threads started about people who give.

Maybe it encourages others who have the funds to donate.
