Money would be the most helpful donation at this time. I heard a list earlier today of what many companies, celebs and sports figures were donating in cash. The amounts were awe-inspiring.

I sure would like MYPILLOW to create a fund that anyone can contribute to and they can send more pillows then.

I know it's the easiest thing to do the Red Cross but I'm still not convinced that everything that is donated goes to our people in Houston and the area. It all goes into one big fund and distributed that way, I would like to think let's say if 10 million gets raised for Texas, that 10 million should be spent on Texas, it doesn't work like that...sad to say.

I heard this earlier this evening as well, and what a great thing, truly an American success story giving back with an American made product.

And this is something that will be greatly needed, from day one, in shelters, or given to people when they are either let back in their areas or when they are moved to semi permanent housing.

Yes, money is important, but why would he donate money when he has something the charities would have to go out and buy anyway. Kind of like Charmin donating cash, so the Red Cross can go and pay money for TP.

Companies having exactly the things that are needed, giving it to the agencies that need it. Direct, smart, and simple.

You are able to designate that your donation go only to Hurricane Harvey on the Red Cross site.

I don't donate to the Red Cross. I never did and never will. There are other charities that I can trust and know the money will go into the right hands.

Saying charities have said cash does the most good at this stage was in response to those having furniture, appliances, etc they wanted to donate. At this stage pillows are needed and charities would just have to provide and buy bedding anyway to accomodate those displaced. It is just common sense!

The President and CEO of the Red Cross makes over a million in salary, I would rather jump on the coat tails of My Pillow than contribute cash to the Red Cross....but that's just me, I like taking care of immediate needs.

We are giving to Direct Relief an organization based in California. They collect and distribute medicines and basic needs supplies to disaster areas. They have emptied their shelves and have people who have traveled to Texas to distribute supplies. All monies go to the charity. You can check them out on line.

I would like to add. The police here give Teddy bears to children in traumatic situations. A pillow is the same type of thing. A hug, a cuddle something that is a tangable gift is sometimes the most valuable thing.

@tansy $ takes time to get needed items distributed, though.

Have you ever seen the cots in those shelters? Those pillows will bring a bit of comfort especially to kids. It will be a long time before many see a comfortable bed again.

We can do both-give $ and give some comfort with the little things.

And pillows made in USA is a big thumbs up.

@RetRN You are so right. As I said in another post-has anyone ever seen those gad-awful cots the evacuees have?

It will be a long time before they will ever sleep in another comfortable bed.
