UPDATE: BATS IN ATTIC

The "bat specialists" came today....ladders, nets, screens, and buckets of cleaning supplies. What a mess!!

After paying $750, the bats 🦇 are gone. The attic was thoroughly checked for any offspring, the bat poop cleared out and screens put up in areas where they got in the attic.

Since the gates to our fenced yard and doors to the house were going to be opened & closed for hours, Sadie & Molly (my beagles) went to Doggie Daycare for safe keeping and had a bath w/ all the frills.

Maybe I should have kept the bats until the end of October. Eh, no!

@Shanus Congrats about the bats! I bet you feel relieved that it's taken care of. I bet you'll sleep much better now, too!

I don't care how many bugs bats eat. I do not like them! !!

@LdyBugz Oh, you are so right. There have been many sleepless nights thinking I'm hearing scratching noises or seeing shadows on the walls. Just writing about it is making the hair on my neck stand up to attention!!!

That's a lot of money, but well spent indeed! I'm sure you are thrilled to not only be rid of the pesky bats, but to have the clean up all taken care of as well. I'm sure you'll rest much easier now. (Not to mention that bats are just not befitting someone of esteemed contributor status. LOL)

I'm dealing with a mouse (or mice) in my house right now. It's been going on for about 6 weeks. Traps all over the place; exterminator's been here three times; we just can't catch him. He's an elusive little fellow. We call him "MacGyver".

@Citrine1. Oh. I feel your pain. No one (or thing) should be in my house who's name isn't on the mortgage. Can't stand bugs, rodents and bats...maybe bats are rodents. Will have to Google that.

As far as being Esteemed, I'm sure even the Queen has had a bat in the belfry once or twice.

Interesting thread. Glad they are gone, @Shanus. Bats=bleccch. Not in my house! I'd be paralyzed.

Yep, they are mammals. But they are not rodents. They are in an order of their own in the animal kingdom. Chiroptera.

@SilleeMee I requested (before hiring) that the bats not be harmed. The guys brought cute little crate/bird cages and I assume the bats were in there and went on the truck to a place where they would be set free.

That's what I asked for and paid for.....I don't have a way to know what happened when they left my property. When this service was recommended to me, they were my choice because they claimed to not harm the bats because of the good they do in nature.

lol,.. Im certaintly not laughing at your situation... major creepers, to think of bats in your personal space... * yikes,.. but.. I wish we could get some bat regulars, to inhabitate where I live.. they can eat 1,200 mosquitoes an hr, and.. living on a lake.. - can I adopt your bats? xD

Natalie lol,.. grew up, my teen yrs, in my grandparents house,..attic, ruled by squirrels..they never bothered us other then the midnight rolling of nuts across the floors xD

Them were some lucky squirrels tho.. lol.. Id have them blasted out of my attic, but, my grandparents, were exceptional souls <3

Bats are important in nature, but not as house-mates!

I paid $1000 last year to get rid of squirrels, now they're back.

Can I borrow your guy??

We've had to get rid of squirrels in the attic twice now. The exterminator says the tall trees in the yard and near the house provide a "freeway" for them. Replace soffits, some guttering and insulation each time. Arg!

@Kachina624 Lol 😂. Planning to sell within 4-5 yrs. and retire/downsize. Whatever is found will be next owner's surprises!!!!
