Eclipse- did anyone experience first hand?

Where I am we only have 94% coverage - just got like early evening for a very short period of time. I couldn't look across the room in the basement and see Sedona's face for awhile. I really wish I could have experienced it in total darkness. Anyone else have any effect in your area? It was just beautiful when it passed the Tetons in Wyomng - wow! I know some people aren't excited - but for me it is exciting.

@hoosieroriginal A partial, yard got much darker than usual, and now is normal again.

It got dark here, but it's been cloudy all day. I can see it getting brighter now.

Wisconsin here. It was very cloudy and overcast all day, so it was gloomy looking but not very dark..........

It's pretty cloudy in southwest Michigan, so it got darker, but not totally dark. Fortunately with the clouds, I could get good, very quick glimpses of it with just my really dark sunglasses on...never more than a couple of seconds at a time. I pointed my phone at the general direction while looking at the ground and actually got a few decent pictures.

We had 90% eclipse here. The best way I can describe it is it was dark like it was when we had a lot of forest fires burning nearby and the smoke obscured the sun during the day.

I am in TN and I am at home alone today out in the country and I have to admit it was eerie. We had total darkness for over two minutes. The crickets and katydids started singing as it got dusky and they still are. My neighbors dogs are still barking but mine slept through it. The temp cooled off a few degrees but not the 10 that was predicted. It is like dusk right now. Very strange feeling that I felt!

I've been sitting next to a window for the last hour and didn't notice a change.

It's happening now in NJ - they said 74% for us.

The light is weird.

The sun is at the back of the house and I'm looking out the front windows at my neighbors and they have the shortest shadows I've ever seen.

I don't have the glasses so I'm not going out.

We were only 90% so it did not get as dark as I thought it was going to. I watched online & on Tv. It started out hazy looking outside. It was quiet no birds flying around no dogs barking.

We only got 95% totality here in northern KY. It got really dark inside the house and outside it was like dusk. The temperature dropped by at least 12 degrees and it was cool. It was awesome! Many from our area went to Hopkinsville, KY where there was a total eclipse. I did watch CBS as the eclipse happened in Jackson Hole, WY. It was indeed awesome!

@SilleeMee - yeah to me it was like when a storm comes in - got darker and winds definitely picked up a bit. I remember a storm that came through about a year ago where it got pitch black in the middle of the day - that was really eerie! The fireflies even came out when that happened!

DC metro area got 81% blockage. I work at home Mondays and Tuesdays, so I went outside with the glasses a friend gave me and a few of my neighbors gathered in the big community gardens. It got windy and the air got cooler. Looking through the glasses at it was absolutely amazing!!

My husband and I kicked back on our lawn and experienced it. The temperatures dropped and the birds quieted. It was amazing in eastern Oregon! Total eclipse. Our animals were just fine. The cows never missed a beat.

I'm in the metro-DC area. Mostly watched on TV, but checked out my kitchen slider. Some birds were still at my feeders. I was outside onlly briefly, but did check the outdoor thermometer. No change in the temp to speak of....at least not in my area. I did hear a local meterologist this morning say that we would probably not have a decrease in temps. Maybe depended on where in the metro-DC area one was.

In the direct path in the west. All the automatic outside lights in my area turned on. It dropped dramatically in temperature and the sky was completely clear so we had a great experience. Beautiful event.

Only 70% here, so dim but not dark. I'm watching the reports/pictures coming in from the "total" path - amazing. No wonder before our modern media an eclipse fostered all sorts of myths. I'm a little envious of those who got to see even more.
