@Group 5 minus 1I assume you're talking about someone on QVC, but I don't know. I do know that my decision to watch only when I might want to buy has been good for me - for my head and my wallet. I've barely watched since early May, and the few times I have, I just don't notice those speech tics.

I do know that decision was good for my wallet because although I've watched so little, I did end up purchasing 3 times during those months anyway. Watching costs me!

As for the overused words - just a few hours ago as I was talking to myself (which I do a whole lot because there's no one here), I realized I've been using the word "interesting" over and over and over in those conversations. I hope I'm not doing that in public, but I promised myself I'd ;listen to me better and try to scrub it out. It's as hard as breaking any other habit!

I hear many TV people say "as well" over and over - especially the news and weather reporters. Way over used phrase...

What annoys me lately is when someone begins their post with "So....this happened " when did sentences start with 'So'. Lol, it's my new pet peeve

The only one that's ever bothered me is "Look..."

It's like an order, as in "Pay attention to what I'm saying."

I really dislike It, it's authoritarian.

Several people I know say 'You know what I mean?' Constantly!

One person says it so fast 'Yaknowwadyemean?' at the end of almost every sentence.

I told her she did it and she said 'I do?' and stopped for a few sentences and then went right back to it. I was cracking up!

I don't think any of those are over-used. JMO.

I hear "on the planet" every now and then, but certainly not often.

I've never heard "build a drink". "Build a sandwich", yes. But that was at least 6 or 7 years ago.

I often say "as well". I think I picked it up from my British relatives. People in the UK say it all the time. It just means "also".

I agree. It bothers me too. Occasionally I see it here, and it always sounds as though the poster is trying to get the upper hand.

In real life, it absolutely is authoritarian. I also think it makes the person sound uneducated. There are more effective ways to get someone to pay attention.
