How often do you take selfies?

I don't do that, but I wonder how often people take a picture of themselves in one day?

Believe it or not, I never have.

I just don't consider myself to be that photogenic.

Myself - literally almost never. I can count the times on one hand.

One person I know on FB - multiple times per month, sometimes multiple times per day. It makes me crazy, because they aren't different pics in different situations or poses, it's invariably the same pose, same hair, exact same smile - same everything - three times in one day, i.e. vanity shots AFAIC. There are selfies for a purpose and there are selfie compulsions.

Another NEVER here.

In fact, my whole family is photo averse. When I went on vacation to visit my son in LA, I took pictures at Disneyland, the the Griffith Observator, Solvang and the Firestone winery.

About 10 pictures in all, including two from the plane (the Rockies and the desert).

We have always preferred to just experience a new place in the here and now.

I've taken a couple to ask my sisters if my hair looked fine or to show them a necklace/earrings. I don't do Facebook or anything where pictures are posted, I just send to my sisters to get feedback

I don't do it. If I want a picture.. that is what a friend is for.... I don't like selfies because the picture is never quite right... even with an extention it looks too close and I have no control of the picture and what it will look like.

Take a couple a month for my guy.

Take a few tamer ones for my mom who is in a nursing home

with dementia. I don't want her to forget me since I can't see

her as often as I want.

People have been taking selfies for generations...

since the camera was invented.

Good enough for them; good enough for me.

It's interesting to see someone take a selfie everyday

in the same facial position for a year/so...then play it back in

quick speed in slideshow format. The subtle facial changes when

something bad or good happens. Always thought I would like

to make that commitment of a selfie a day..maybe next year.

One can learn a lot about oneself.

I just don't get that either @Moonchilde. I have never taken a selfie on my own. Only with my grandson or another person. I can't remember the last time I did that even. I have friends too on FB or instagram who do exactly what you are talking about. Sorry but I wonder about a person in their 40's who does this. To me, it is odd.

@Irshgrl31201, I don't know if there's an "official" definition of selfie, but as far as how I think about it, I don't consider a photo with other people in it a selfie - it's just a normal ordinary group photo that is now possible (where it didn't use to be possible) to take it yourself, at arm's length.

I have taken a very few, so that FB friends, not all of whom know me in real life, know what I look like. But I take lousy photos no matter who has ever taken them, and there's a knack to taking selfies that I don't have. I'd rather ask someone with me to use my phone to take one, for that purpose.

But a person who takes their own photo multiple times a day with various degrees of lip pouts, bed-hair poses, etc is a whole different reason for taking the photo, IMO. I don't get why a person would think their friends, or their family, would want to see a continuous stream of them "romancing" the camera. Eww.

I don't take any. However, on of my nephew's wife takes a ton of selfies. But she sure could your one of those "selfie sticks"! Her face is always large and front and center!!!!!!!!!
