Several weeks ago the national news announced due to low sales and online competition HSN and QVC were merging. Does anyone know any more about it?

A merger was never announced, the parent company of QVC bought HSN, they already owned a good portion of it.

The companies and TV stations will remain separated as they always have been

There was no mention of them merging. The company that owns QVC and Zulily and already had an interest in HSN, Liberty Interactive, announced they would increase their ownership in HSN to 100%. As I recall this won't be finalized for several months. It may have little impact on current operations; nobody knows at this point.

They are under the same ownership now but I'm pretty sure the story said they would remain separate and distinct.
