Mad At Post Office (UPDATED)

I had something that was supposed to be delivered today. I was really looking forward to it as I had ordered it two weeks ago from etsy. It was a custom made dog collar. This morning it said it was out for delivery. My mail came around 11:00, and it was not delivered. I thought it might come on a separate truck, because strangely enough that does happen sometimes. I kept checking tracking, and it still said it was out for delivery. I don't know why, but I checked it again a few minutes ago, and it said it had been delivered at 2:45. I went out to my mailbox and it's not there.

I am so irritated. I hope it shows up on Monday. Sometimes I think the post office puts delivered when it hasn't really been delivered. I think that has happened to me in the past, but I'm not sure. If it doesn't come Monday I'll assume they delivered it to the wrong address. I'm so disappointed. I know it's just a dog collar, but if I don't get it there's no way I can get my money back or get a replacement.

I've had UPS to drag stuff to my back door instead of the front

@SharkE I did, and it just isn't anywhere. I don't think he would have brought it to the porch anyway. It would have just been in an envelope.

don't guess somebody stole it since you were looking for it, if he put in wrong box he will get it returned to him and you will get it eventually.

@NickNack, You better follow up because it could have been delivered to someone else; one of your neighbors perhaps? I was waiting for a delivery from UPS today. I gave up after 5:30 pm. It was after 6 pm when UPS showed up. I did not think they would deliver that late on a Sat. I felt sorry for the guy (it's 86 outside) but glad I got my package. I bought a white pitch stitch quilt from Pottery Barn. It is so soft and beautiful. I want to use it for my summer blanket and coverlet and change to a duvet in winter and toss the quilt and the feet. The duvet is off white so white and off white look so good together. Don't forget to call 1st thing on Monday as the PO needs to investigate.

I had bought a gold bracelet from the Q (not the IMperial Gold) couple of yrs. ago. and mailman took it to my school teacher neighbor. Thank God, almighty, she walked over, rang the bell and handed to me.

After that I got a fancy rock and had it numbered and another decorative rock and had my last name put on it and out in my front yard amongst my little flower garden. Put number letters on my post box all I can do. LOL

I will definitely call the PO on Monday morning @Katcat1. I have the white pick stitch quilt from Pottery Barn, too, and love it! I have the European pillow shams to match. Recently they had the Hadley Ruched Shams on sale for $21 each. They're usually $49.50. I bought them to go on my bed, too, and they look great.

Sorry you did not get your mail delivery today. This happened to me with my postal carrier. Yes the post office does put delivered and it is not delivered. Yes it is frustrating. I hope it is delvered to you on Monday.

@NickNack, I only bought one sham as I will use both my pillows with white cases and then I have a one throw pillow. I know I get excited over decorating and making changes in my bedroom.

I hear you. I'm having the same problem, with a UPS delivery. I thought I solved the shipping problem with having all deliveries go to the post office, not my street address. Well guess what.....tracking said " attempted delivery with instructions" huh ? Grrrrrr

@Nicknack I had a beautiful hand-made Etsy collar picked out I was going to order for my smooth collie Cassidy. Unfortunate she had an autoimmune disease to which she succumbed and I never got the chance to get it for her. All of my other dogs are long-haired and you can't see their collars so they get nylon.

@NickNack ~ Be sure to check with your neighbors. A couple of months ago the exact same thing happened to me. Only difference instead of a dog collar, it was some vintage birds I purchased on ebay. The tracking showed it was delivered but no boxes here. My husband came home from work and (of course) I was irritated so he took it upon himself to walk up and down the sidewalk and found it two doors down sitting outside their front door. Go figure. My address starts with "11" and theirs starts with "10." Yet they still delivered it to the wrong house. I hope you get your package soon. By the way, I saw some adorable dog collars on etsy that included either a bow or a flower. You could order them to match the seasons. I don't think I can ask the name of the vendor on here but I wonder if you purchased the same kind, lol!

@NickNackIf UPS delivered it to the post office after the mailman left for the day, then it may be possible that it says delivered meaning it was delivered to the post office. This has happened to me before. Hope this may be what happened.

Then the next day it is delivered by the post office. This has also happened to me when Fedex delivers to the post office.

@NickNack, you should have called the Post office right away. If something says out for delivery, I check as soon as I hear the mail truck to see if it says delivered. I run out side while the truck is down the block to make sure that it has been delivered.

If it's not there, I call the Post Office right away, and they put me on hold while they contact the mail carrier. In a few minutes, the delivery is made and they usually call back to make sure. This has happened a few times. With GPS they can check to see where the package was delivered.

I had the same situation. Knew a pkg. was to arrive (out for delivery) waited all day. So upset. Made myself physically sick. My hus. said he would walk down our street. The pkg. had been left at the next door house. This house has been empty for 2 years. Lady in nursing home. I think postmen are eager to deliver on a saturday and don't even check house numbers on pkg. It was a pkg. from the Q and correctly addressed. I completely understand your feelings. Please let us know when your" loves" collar arrives.

For the future, check the USPS site to see if you can sign up for Informed Delivery - it lets you know everyday (not sure about Saturday) what mail is coming to you that day. It actually scans copies of the first 10 pieces and sends you an email first thing in the morning. That way, you don't have to wait for the delivery! Not all zip codes are eligible, but lots are.
