TEddy Ruxpin is back!!!

I heard that there were plans in place to bring back a new version with updated technology. Well, just saw it on QVC and Amazon is also offering it. RElease date is August 1. MY daughter loved her Teddy Ruxpin. Her son (My grandson) will be 4 years old in mid-August. No reviews available yet. My grandson loves his kids Fire HD tablet. I don't know if he is "too old" and to into advanced technology to enjoy TEddy or not.

I have the real/original sitting in a guest room right now. Along with 8 cabbage patch dolls, a Kooza and various animals, etc from back then.

They all belong to my youngest daughter (just turned 37 years old). If she ever gets married and has a baby they are her's.

I already have 7 grandchildren (by 2 other daughters) and they got their childhood toys. These belong to the youngest. She'll be here at the end of the month. She always sleeps in there and I've caught her looking at them, probably remembering. I have almost every toy they ever played with. Being girls nothing ever got broken. My late husband wouldn't let me get rid of the stuff.

I can't even think of what's up in the attic. One day they'll have to go.

My girls had Teddy Ruxpin also.....and really liked him...but i think they enjoyed Cricket more...remember her??

My 37 year old son and I have a running joke about Teddy. When he was little he wanted him so badly. For some reason we never got him Teddy (no clue why). He takes on and on that we were so mean and never got him Teddy. It stunted him for life I will have to get him the new Teddy for Christmas as a joke. He can't complain anymore! lol

A quick 'story' about 'vintage' toys. OK, so you guys have heard me bla bla about the time lightning hit our house and we couldn't live in it for 5 full months. We lived in a hotel.

Anyway, about the toys. So we had a lot of toys up in the attic (all the girls had). Some of them had smoke damage and a few burned.

Our insurance says "SAME AS" (that's very important) because that meant they had to give us as close to what we paid for the stuff as we could come to. My late husband was unbelievably organized (unlike me). So we went to the toy store and got tons of new toys and some that were similar to what we used to have. Here's the pain in the @@ neck part....I had to get on the internet and find out the cost of all of the Fisher Price toys (remember the little people), the good wooden ones? Now they are plastic. OK, so in finding out the value of these things I met people who were saving these things thinking their value would support the cost of their children going to college!!

Yepper! They actually thought the little people house and stuff would be worth the cost of going to (say University of Va) which is where my one daughter went. Ummmm!! That would be no way!

Anyway, it was interesting seeing what people wanted for some of these same toys many of us have held on to over the years. Many of them were people like in their 30's and 40's (not even close to 70, like me).

I bought a few that I knew my middle daughter wanted replaced (she's very particular and had to have the wooden small little people). They weren't that much more money. I bought them from the internet.

That was an interesting year. We had 9/11 that year, we had lightning hit and lived in a hotel for 5 months, we had 2 daughters get married! Wow!

I have the house, the school, the farm ect.

@missy1 I gave most of them to my middle daughter in Florida. She's 42 and has 3 young daughters but she is the one who calls me Mommie. She wanted all of them, (the Fisher Price stuff). Her favorite is the Merry Go-Round where the little guys spin the thing around. She also likes the record player. Remember that? With the little round records that play on the record player. She has all of that stuff.

She gets it out every now and then and sits while her girls play with them; but she's super protective of them. It's funny really.

I thought Fisher Price had to totally redesign all its,"little people" because they were a choking hazard for small children. THey were small enough to get stuck in a child's throat.

I had them when I was young. I had to rebuy at antique shops later on.

Yes, of course I do. Hey! You guys have no idea about the new Cabbage Patch babies! I got 3 from QVC last year. Their eyes are really creepy. They look almost normal like a human's. They (QVC) are going to sell them again. Saw them in the QVC magazine.

I asked my daughter if the girls (3) wanted them again and they said they wanted to pick them out. I said, no can do!

My daughter took them to the Cabbage Patch hospital and they bought some then. I can't imagine how many they now have.

My girls each had at least 8 or more of them. Their mother (my middle daughter) liked the African American Cabbage Patch babies. We (at first) had a hard time finding them, she eventually collected I think around 3 of them. This daughter (the same one that collects the FP stuff) has her first Cabbage Patch from when she was I think around 8 years old (she's in her 40's now). This CP doll is filthy (I used to wash it in the machine when she was at school. Anyway, she would talk for the doll and everything. I always taught my girls about the magic of imagination. So when she'd come home the doll would have gotten into the trash in her room, would be sitting in the window, etc.

We always had elaborate parties for all of the dolls, with cake and balloons you name it, gifts and everything. She does that with her girls now.

When my youngest would come home I'd greet her in my shorts (it would be snowing and cold) and we'd have a picnic in the living room.

We'd play mind games about closing their eyes and pretending things. I never had that growing up so I made up my mind my girls were going to have an amazing childhood (and they did).

Who remembers the Kooza dolls (part of the Cabbage Patch organization). We also have one that kinda looks like a Bunny Rabbit. I can't remember what that's called.

Then my grandchildren all have the American Girl dolls that look like them.

My mother actually had outfits made for their Madam Alexander Dolls and dresses that matched the dolls for them. For my oldest daughter she found real antique high heels and purse. It was so neat!

They put them away and the oldest and youngest never look at them, but the middle one still shows her girls. I think it's important to teach children to use their imagination.

My grandson (when I go over there) is always drawing and playing with the toys my husband (his granddaddy) bought after the house fire. He said, "This will be for our grandchildren". He's happy up in Heaven now.

Anyone else have some toys like the Fisher Price stuff?

I also have the Cabbage Patch diapers and clothes. I have the youngest daughter and I hope she gets married and pops out a kid. She's my baby girl and she just turned 37! She's been in a relationship for quite a few years but he's dragging his feet. I said, "He knows how expensive you are". Ha!

Good grief! I just sit here and rattle on and on. I'm sorry, I guess you guys get sick of me prattling on all of the time. The main thing I learned from high school is how to type fast. Ha! That's about it! I type to you guys pretty much like I talk on and on...aren't you glad you don't know me? There are a few people here who do know me....Ha!

Oh, his thread is bringing back memories! Teddy Ruxpin didn't last long at our house. My younger son took him to nursery school for show and tell and Teddy came back broken. Which was EXACTLY why I didn't want him to take it to school. But it was a good life lesson, l guess. "Mother knows best?"

I remember that that record player, too, along with the FP stove (2 boys!), the phone, the farm, etc. I think I loved Fisher Price as much as the kids. Thanks for the nostalgia, ladies.

I just saw this and it reminded me. The castle had burned during the fire but my husband had me track one down and purchase it. My daughter has that one too: She took all of this stuff to Florida when she moved there!

I found the Cabbage Patch Bunny Bee! Not many of these things around. Every time I go into my daughter's old bedroom all of these CB babies are on the bed! She's coming to visit (with her boyfriend). He'll stay at his house, he's from here. Here's the thing that just looks out of place with all of the babies and stuff. I guess he's cute:
