Just received an email from Chase Bank/is this a scam?

The email said it noticed 'unusual activity' on my Chase account but I don't have a Chase account!!!! Is this spam? If so, is there something I can do about it? It said in the email if I felt this email wasn't real, to forward it on to noreply@chase.com, which I did, but when I did this, I got an email back saying my email could not be forwarded. No reason was given as to why it could not be delivered. Help!

You should just delete it.

I don't have an account with Chase and have gotten texts and emails about "my account". I block the sender and delete

@newjersey- you should have just deleted the email.

And the email address you replied to is "no reply".

You don't have a Chase account. Just delete the email.

Why did you even respond if you don't have an account with Chase ... of course it must be a scam ... and now your computer may be compromised.

This sounds similar to the call I received last week telling me my computer was infected ... oh, yeah, right. My computer wasn't even on

I got one of those too and I called chase from the number on their WEBSITE, (never use a phone number from an email) and Chase told me to forward it to abuse@chase.com

If you forward it to chase they have their fraud department investigate it and hopefully put an end to the people sending out scam/fraudulent emails...................

^ Exactly this! Don't ever reply to anything like that and absolutely don't ever click on anything within the email.

Furthermore, it might be helpful just in general to go onto all of your credit and debit accounts and check the boxes that have it advise you (whether by text or email, your choice) of ANY transaction that is done without card-in-hand.

I have done this and it gives me a great deal of comfort. It's no problem at all to read and delete the emails, knowing that it was my transaction.

The correct email address for Chase to report suspicious emails is

abuse@chase.com

anything else is bogus.

Never respond to those emails. If you, then the sender can gain access to your email address book. Of course, it's spam.

A general word about these emails.... never click on ANY link... even one that asks you to report if you think it is bogus. Do not click on ANY link, period. If truly concerned, call the organization and speak to a representative or go on their website and report the email to them right on their website and away from the email.

You may have compromised your computer to key loggers (capturing passwords), back door snoopers, etc. Just to be safe (if it were me), I'd immediately change my passwords to any money accounts I have and then work backwards changing my passwords with the most important first. Pain in the neck, but that's why they include a link in these emails.....

They're phishing - trying to find someone that says "yes I have a Chase account" - then they will try to verify info so they can steal your info. Delete it. Block them.

What I am saying she should have used the forward button on her email system and entered abuse@chase.com on who she wanted to send the email to. Forwarding is OK I asked this specifically to Chase's Fraud Dept. But she shouldnt have clicked on a link at all. Your right if you click a link the scammers got her.

You don't have a Chase account so the heck difference could it possibly make to you if it's scam? Just delete it and go about your business. Because....you don't have an acoount or credit card with them.

So, you followed the instructions that the suspicious email gave you regarding the account that you don't even have with Chase. Unbelievable. The next time you get something weird like that, and you will. Just delete the email. You don't even have to read the the entire thing, just delete it.

@newjersey, this was not spam but a phishing email. Since you did reply you should consider the possibility your computer or some of your information has been potentially compromised. The IT dept. at our work advises when this happens to start the process of changing all of your passwords starting with those that pertain to the most sensitive accounts first. So if you do happen to do any online banking or even have an account to check your balance online, start with changing those passwords first.
