Monday's Positive Thread

It is easier to see another's faults than it is to see your own. Lord, help
me
sit in judgment of only myself and guide me in my attempts at overcoming
my weaknesses.

Scripture for the day:

Since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us give
thanks, by which we offer to God an acceptable worship with reverence
and awe; for indeed our God is a consuming fire. ~Hebrews 12:28-29

Meditation for the day:

Whenever we seek to worship God, we think of the great universe that
God rules over, of creation, of mighty law and order throughout the
universe. Then we feel the awe that precedes worship. I too can feel
awe, feel the desire to worship God in wondering amazement. My mind is
in a box of space and time and it is so made that I cannot conceive of
what is beyond space or time, the limitless and the eternal. But I
know that there must be something beyond space and time, and that something
must be the limitless and eternal Power behind the universe. I also
know that I can experience that Power in my life.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may accept the limitless and eternal Spirit. I pray that
it may express itself in my life.

Hello my friends! Today was just a relaxing Sunday - was at Mass last
night, he had to work today, I got out of bed this morning and noticed my
neck hurt, must have either slept wrong or got up wrong, who knows? Anyway,
it still hurts but not as bad as this morning. Plan to go to Dr. Mike
tomorrow. That will help. My blessings today - I called Lori and invited
her for supper at the spur of the moment and she could come - with Ollie, of
course, and he was so much fun! We didn't play games, just visited and that
was good too. She did a 40 mile bike ride again today - her goal is to do a
50 mile one - she bikes with a client of hers - and that client is over 60!
Wow! A friend from our Church wrote on Facebook that she did a 26 mile
rollerblading today! Said that wasn't easy. I emailed that to Lori and
asked if she could do that, and she answered, no, she couldn't but in a town
they went thru she saw where the rollerbladers were starting their 26 miles!
Lori used to rollerblade, not to extreme though. Nice day here today, we do
need rain, though. Praying for all of you, daily, and I thank you for your
prayers for us.

A SIMPLE LESSON:

A rat looked through a crack in the wall to see the farmer and his wife
opening a package. What food might it contain? He was aghast to discover
that it was a rat trap. Retreating to the farmyard the rat proclaimed the
warning; "There is a rat trap in the house, a rat trap in the house!"

The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head and said, "Excuse me, Mr.
Rat, I can tell this is a grave concern to you, but it is of no consequence
to me. I cannot be bothered by it."

The rat turned to the pig and told him, "There is a rat trap in the house, a
rat trap in the house!"

"I am so very sorry Mr. Rat," sympathized the pig, "but there is nothing I
can do about it but pray. Be assured that you are in my prayers."

The rat turned to the cow. She said, "Like wow, Mr. Rat. A rat trap. I am in
grave danger. Duh?"

So the rat returned to the house, head down and dejected, to face the
farmer's rat trap alone.

That very night a sound was heard throughout the house, like the sound of a
rat trap catching its prey. The farmer's wife rushed to see what was caught.
In the darkness, she did not see that it was a venomous snake whose tail the
trap had caught. The snake bit the farmer's wife.

The farmer rushed her to the hospital. She returned home with a fever. Now
everyone knows you treat a fever with fresh chicken soup, so the farmer took
his hatchet to the farmyard for the soup's main ingredient.

His wife's sickness continued so that friends and neighbors came to sit with
her around the clock. To feed them the farmer butchered the pig.

The farmer's wife did not get well. She died, and so many people came for
her funeral that the farmer had the cow slaughtered to provide meat for all
of them to eat.

So the next time you hear that someone is facing a problem and think that it
does not concern you, remember that when there is a rat trap in the house,
the whole farmyard is at risk.

There is the story of an Irishman who died suddenly and went up for divine
judgment. He felt very uneasy, for he didn't think he had done much good on
earth. There was a long line of people ahead of him, so he settled down to
look and listen.

After consulting his book, Christ said to the first man in line, "I see here
that I was hungry and you gave me to eat. Good on you! Go on into heaven."
To the second he said, "I was thirsty and you gave me to drink," and to the
third, "I was in prison and you visited me," And so it went on. As each man
ahead of him was sent to heaven, the Irishman examined his conscience and
felt that he had a great deal to fear. He'd never given anyone food or
drink, and he hadn't visited prisoners or the sick.

Then his turn came. Trembling, he watched Christ examining the book. Then
Christ looked up and said, "Well, there's not much written here; but you did
do something: I was sad and discouraged and depressed and you came and told
me funny stories which made me laugh and cheered me up. Get along to
heaven..."

This story makes the point that no form of charity should be undervalued or
neglected.

The Prayer of Our Lady of All Nations
