FROM PALM TREES TO BARNS :)

We recently returned to our "northern" home and it is a scenery change, for sure. I snapped these from our vehicle while on our way to dinner last night, thus some are a bit blurry - DH wouldn't slow down LOL. It is nice to see open spaces - something you don't see much of down south unless you are at the beach .

The corn in the picture above is higher than "knee high" and it isn't the 4th yet !

So this is what it looks like in my neck of the woods.....at least for the summer. It certainly isn't tropical, but I find it scenic and peaceful.

Can you share what it looks like in your piece of this world?

@tends2dogs I live in MN and your pictures look like I went just down the road from where I live, we live in a small town of about 2500, not much of anything around, but it is peaceful & serene!

Where I am in WI, there are farms. I never considered myself a city girl before I moved here, but apparently I was. I love living here.

@tends2dogs Your pictures are beautiful.

I yearn to be in a place where I can see the sky when I look up. I have lived in a big city all my life so far, but have reached the age where the noise and view of one tall building after another just don't excite me all that much. The debate about places to go and things to do is overrated too. One can always come into the city if there is an event or something you really want to see and do. I may not be ready for a barn in back of the house and cornfields, but I'll find a happy medium.

@GCR18, @CareBears, @hoosieroriginal I am located in MI, born and raised. It is nice to come back for 4 months of the year - the best 4 months weatherwise as far as I am concerned. I am over winter, but to each his own .

@Trix I understand what you are saying. My daughter lived in Chicago for awhile and a visit was about all I could take. Too much, too much . The 4 months we are up north is a nice break and a chance to see relatives. I enjoy hot weather and so the remaining 8 months of the year in tropical warm weather is fine with me.

Thanks for the comment on the pictures. They were taken with a Tracphone at 55 miles an hour .

I like having four seasons, even though one of them lasts six months. 😀. Plus I'd miss my paycheck. Got a ways to go before retirement.

Looks like central NY. At my age I don't like 85+ or 30- nor shoveling snow. I enjoy 4 seasons. I don't like heavy traffic and mobs of people but I will travel to big cities for something special. In years past I enjoyed going to NYC on the weekend. The heavy traffic was leaving and I left as they returned. I could watch the congestion trying to move in the opposite direction. I am and always will be a country girl at heart.

Central Midwest. Rolling hills, lakes. Green. Milder winters of late, which I like. Suburb to 2 mil population metro area, but my quaint town of 100K decent people has a thriving, lovely downtown area. Just bought a maintenance-provided home and watch deer in the commons area from my bedroom window each morning or from my deck in the evening. Happy here. (look forward to a couple of winter months by the beach when we retire then will come home to the prairie)

I agree @goldensrbest! Being on a farm would have to be a great life for a dog. Whenever you see them out in the fields or even in the front yard, they are never tethered.

Alas, we don't have a farm.........poor Willie..........

DH & I just took a drive thru the countryside here in SW Pa. and the scenery you are showing could easily be here - except we see a lot of Amish farms and buggies along the roads, esp.on Sunday evening which is traditionally when young Amish couples court. We saw a lot of young people out in open buggies this evening.

BTW - the corn is pretty high here too. I guess all the rain! Can't wait to have some!

@Marienkaefer2 While we aren't farmers or have a farm, I love to drive through the countryside. Watching the crops grow during the summer and than watching them being harvested. Farmers work long and hard and it must be a satisfying feeling at the end of the day.

To me, it is a simple pleasure to look at.
