Summertime is here, and that means that Prime Day is right around the corner, and this year, it's bigger than ever. The event itself is expected to last 30 hours, though Amazon will run select discounts for an entire week. As usual, it is exclusively for Prime members, which is free to join for 30 days.

Amazon has not yet announced when it will hold this year's Prime Day, but we do know it will take place in the second week of July. Last year, it fell on July 12, and the year before was the 15th.

@butterfly123 Since I am interested in Amazon Prime Day and I am a Prime member, how do we find out the date of this event, where is it announced, is there an email sent to prime members, or do I have to check Amazon for the date???

Amazon usually sends an email and other websites will leak information on some of the sales items. I google to find sites that have the leaked sales items.

The last two years, I haven't found anything that I needed, wanted or was looking for after giving the site a good look during Prime Time (Day, Weekend, whatever) that was actually a great price. Nothing moved me to buy a thing, and I was in a buying mood. I feel it's over-hyped. I was so blah about last year (year #2 for me) that I might spend 10 min looking this year, but I really don't care.

I got an Amazon Fire TV Stick last year for either $12 or $15 after all the discounts were applied. I'm looking to get a bigger, 4K HDTV for the coming NFL season and Amazon is now selling their own branded HDTV's with the Fire TV built in, so if they offer a good price I might pick one of those up. I've got a bunch of stuff on my wish list and if any of that pops up at a good price I might grab it too.

They've never had anything I needed and wanted on a special sale on Prime Day so I'm not all that interested. I'll probably take a look to see what they are offering but I'll be surprised if I buy anything.

I just googled about it and word seems to be start time is July 10th...starting at 6pm PDT and it will last for 30 hours this year

I haven't found anything the last few years either, but I DO go on Amazon often that day and look for a deal on their gift cards, which I've found before.

I'll do that again this year.

The gift cards are a good deal, for others or self.

A couple of years ago I got through on one of their big tv deals on Prime Day. It was a smart tv, 32" . Looked on and off all day and managed to be on just at the right time. Not a no name brand, can't remember the brand. Had it in my cart and decided not to. Said I didn't need it. Wouldn't you know a couple of days later my 32" tv died.

I ended up getting a good deal from Amazon on one the following week, but not as good as the Prime day one. But I kicked myself big time over that one. I had a strong hunch to get it and should have listened. Some things are worth getting and putting away.

I got a great deal last year on my Delsey hardside suitcase. I hope I can get the 21" carry on this year. I'll be checking 7/10 @6 & 7/11
