Bugs Expiring....

That is what David the host said instead of DEAD BUGS. I have never heard anyone say the term expire for killing bugs..... So funny. I always liked the line IT KILLS BUGS DEAD!

I have heard people, here on the boards, say that their plants "passed away."

Seems crazy to use euphemisms in such situations.

I guess the word DEAD is not discriptive enough. I think it says it all.... THE END.

I use the word died for people, pets, plants, the lawn, etc. I have never been around people who used the term passed away or passed. Ever. Is it a regional thing or a religious thing or a generational thing? Everyone I have ever known, when speaking of someone deceased, said dead/died.

IN this day and age, "killing bugs" is probably too much for sensitive viewers and they would have had to issue a warning about it.

The bugs always got away while I stood there choking using that stuff.

I agree.Talking about people who are gone, during times of immense sadness it was harder to say to non members of the family that someone died or is dead. Somehow, it was just a little bit easier to get the words out whenever someone asked by saying they passed away.

I guess the same thing would apply to plants. Easier to say your plants from Cottage Farms passed away, than to say they died.

I guess times have really changed....even how people have viewed dead bugs......

Back in the day Raid offered playing cards with deceased insects pictured..........

And coffee mugs....although that is a little gross to think of a dead bug while drinking a beverage.......

LOL!!!

While there are beneficial insects----bees, ladybugs etc etc.....But anytime I see one of those big dead outside roaches here in TX, I think the only good roach is a dead one........ ...UGGGHH!!!!

@Moonchilde, I mostly hear so-and-so has 'passed away' and 'passed over' used by people from families of regular church goers.
I think the concept of 'passing over' (usually into Heaven) comes from popular hymns that contain (now) old language.

I heard died/dead at home. But at the age of 25 I was told people expire, plants die. Nobody mentioned bugs.

Companies have always used euphemisms and mysterious blue liquids to avoid evoking bad feelings or turning people off. I think this is just the latest incarnation of that.
