Beyonce-JayZ twins were Premature

Beyonce's twins were premature and are "under the lights" to normalize ... this according to sources connected with the family.

We're told Beyonce did not go full-term ... which was not apparent on the surface.

Beyonce announced her pregnancy February 1.

TMZ broke the story ... the twins have been in the hospital since their birth a week ago Monday with a "minor issue."

Our sources say the babies are "under the lights." They would not be more specific, but that often means the babies have jaundice because of elevated bilirubin levels.

The lights are designed to lower bilirubin in the blood to eliminate the jaundice.

The condition is common among preemies and in most cases not dangerous.

Hi IG

My baby also spent time in the hospital, under the lights as treatment for jaundice from Rh issues.

It usually hits a second pregnancy harder than the first.

I sure hope Bey and J-Z's twins will be much better in record time.

Honestly, I had no idea that she was even pregnant. Did she carry them or were they carried by a surrogate?

Good luck to her and the babies! I am not a beyonce or Jay z fan but I certainly would only wish for the best for the health of any baby.

So strange. I peruse the internet (not gossip websites though) and never once saw anything about it. Or maybe I just subconsciously ignored them if I did see them. Her first one was a surrogate though right? I can't remember (not that it really matters).

Beyonce announced her pregnancy in February with a series of photos. The usual group here who don't like her or her husband have had numerous snarky posts about them.

@HappyDazeShe also carried her first. Unfortunately, she was berated and accused of lying. That's happening a lot to celebs lately, they seem to be fair game for a lot of disgruntled people.

DD was over a month early. Her fraternal twin did not make it, but we knew that in the middle of my pregnancy.

I hope they deal better with their security measures this time. Last time a lot of new parents' relatives were not allowed in to see THEIR babies. I understand the need for security - I'm sure they want to keep this wonderful event private, but it seems to me you can verify other new parents' immediate family and the new babies' grandparents.

One new dad said after seeing his twins in the NICU he had to stay put for almost half an hour before he could leave. That's not right.

She announced her first pregnancy by showing off her baby bump at the 2011 MTV Music Awards. See the youtube clip starting at 4:20 (although I enjoy watching her entire performance).
