Matt Mika today

Matt has undergone additional surgery which is showing improved results. According to his family, he is expected to make a full recovery, though it will be a long journey. He may be moved out of ICU after the weekend. He is responsive and is able to communicate, though he still has to write notes. After taking four bullets, two of which were in the chest, he seems to be a fighter and will beat this.

I think the OP just made a typo. I'm sure she meant Mike Mika. I also pray he comes through this ok.

@RainCityWoman thanks for update. the press has no interest in covering this story apparently. last i heard he was not breathing on his own. hope that that has changed. prayers up.

@ms traditionalI don't know what press you listen to or read, but I've seen stories and updates each day in the Los Angeles Times and on NBC news. No lack of coverage whatsoever.

The article i found did not say, but since the family said he still communicates in writing, I am assuming that he is still on a respirator. i have heard constant coverage of Scalise and how he got the trophy from the Dems and how he is showing improvement in increments, but I've heard nothing on the condition of Mika. I had to search to find even this much. Guess I'm not in front of the television the nano second they devote to him.

@RainCityWoman thank you so much for this thread as for me it has been difficult finding information on Matt's condition. I am so glad to know he is on the mend albeit with an extended recovery period. Continued prayers for him and his family.

I have heard next to nothing on Matt Mika's condition from the news and I have MSNBC on all the time. Thanks for the info and update.

I read on Roll Call that a GFM page has been startedfor his healthcare costs - raised over $40K so far,and his page also encourages people to donate to the GFM page for Officer Crystal Griner.

Today, I found a small article which said his designation had been raised from Critical to serious now.
