Speaking of being offended

I was minding my own bussiness driving, stopped at a traffic light ,a black truck pulled up to next me ,in the other lane a car load of men ,i say men not boys, in their 20's ,one yelled out to me the F ----- word!!

Well, my first inclination would be to say, "Back at you #@$%&", but where I live, I would probably get shot. Best to just ignore and keep moving.

@goldensrbest Nothing surprises me anymore, manners & respect have disappeared, and disrespect, selfish behaviour, and rudeness seems to be the norm now?

Thank your lucky stars that you were in your car. Can you imagine if you were, say, walking down a road or not very busy street? As I've often said, some folks are just 'looking for trouble'.

OH my gosh, you wonder why do people do this

I had this happen to me last week sunday while taking a walk in my development. a man came out of his house, began to yell language that even the most seasoned person would be offended at. He got right up in my face and He began to snap my picture with his cell phone. he was drunk, smelled to high heaven of b.o.. he flashed me a wad a money. this was so bizarre. i had to find another neighbor man to walk me home. I don't trust this guy one tiny bit. believe it, i have never met this guy before in my life. he has lived here for 8 years, never leaves his house, does not drive. he is a loose cannon. I reported him to the police. the police,what a joke, they said he was just acting silly. I feel like my rights were somewhat violated but police said, no, he can take pictures of me anytime of day or night and i can't object. This whole incident was so bizarre and so unreal. I have lived in my developement for 30 years and have never ever had anything like this happen to me ever in the almost 50 years I have lived around the country.

A few weeks ago I was going into the doctor's office. I was still in the parking lot just walking in. This guy came out of the clinic and started screaming at me that I was an F-ing cop.,,and you F-ing cops think you're so smart...F you! Only he said the whole F word. I looked around to try to figure out who he was talking to, but I was the only one there. When I got in the clinic, I told the security man about it. He said that he thought he knew who it was and that he was delusional. Very scary though when things like that happen.

I guess it depends on where one lives, but in my area, that is typical behavior. So many people are under the influence all hours of the day and night, you never know what to expect anywhere you go. It is scary.

@viva923 You should have grabbed the wad of money and run. If he was very drunk, he undoubtedly would not have been able to catch you.

From what I've read, we don't have any right to stop anyone taking a photo if we are in a public area.

It's my first inclination as well.... but with so many irrational, even really spooky people out there your best bet is to ignore and keep moving as mentioned already. Usually it's to show frustration and contempt for someone not moving as fast (or getting out of their way) fast enough.... you're lucky they didn't run into your back bumper to get you to move faster.... !!

Without going into any detail: Some people out there seem to go out of their way to, shall I say, provoke a possible confrontation. They might drive by, making lots of noise, just to attract attention. Maybe (if a walker returns some sort of remark) it subconsciously gives the driver 'permission' (in his/her mind) to do something worse, in retaliation. Seriously, we don't know the reason why people do things. Could be that even the professionals can't entirely figure it all out. Sometimes it's just a big question mark.

I saw a video on the news yesterday, a woman was in her car, slowly pulling out of a parking lot and a man just walked up to her car, walked up on her hood and smashed in her windshield with his boot and walked away.

It was caught on her dash cam.

I can't remember exactly where it happened but somewhere here in the US.

Of course, I'm always a bit skeptical of videos.

If your neighbor decides to post your picture on facebook or any other social media without your permission... THEN get the police and an attorney.....

When people are drunk or under the influence of drugs - or if they're schizo or bipolar and not taking their meds - this goes on. In SoCal, in certain parts of the city (not just the "bad" parts but in tourist areas as well) it would be a rare day not to encounter someone behaving inappropriately in public, or ranting to the voices in their heads. You give such people as wide a berth as possible, but they're not going away any time soon.
