SILK OR SATIN PILLOWCASES

I am sure many of you have seen articles about using silk pillowcases to prevent facial lines as well as protecting your hair. For forty years I have used satin cases, less expensive than silk, and it is 100% true. I have no lines or wrinkles on my face and my hair actually looks good in the morning.

I will admit my good genes help but giving them a boost with the satin cases makes it even better. If you haven't tried them, make the switch asap, you won't be sorry. I usually buy them at Bed and Bath but you probably can find them in any store in the bedding department. So ladies (and gentlemen too) do you sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase?

Satin for me too, I like the ones that have zippers. I found nice ones for just a few dollars at BBB a few years ago.

I don't like the feel of silk or satin on my face. I use 100% cotton sheets and pillowcases.

I prefer the breathability of 100% cotton, and my head/face doesn't get hot and I don't sweat.

No problems with wrinkles or hair.

I think it's all just a gimmick that silk/satin prevents wrinkles.

The only thing that does that is a time machine.

@Lindsays Grandma Yes, have used satin pillow cases for many years.....recommended especially for curly hair AND no wrinkles.

At BB&B, found pillow covers that feel like satin and zip on....just as good as very inexpensive. Hint: I change mine every other day since hair products and skincare not great to lie on.

I am a back snorer so thought no need for silk but my hair gets frizzy so might give it a try.

I use silk pillow cases that I get from Amazon. I am a back sleeper whose hair was breaking off/thinning in the back. I researched to see if there was any easy fix. Silk pillowcases were recommended so I tried them. My hair looks much better in the morning with no snarls in the back to "get through". That is probably what is helping with my hair. Do I like them as much as 100% cotton...NO! But vanity wins out in this case.

When I had my thyroid, etc. checked to rule out a medical reason for my hair thinning (all negative), my Dr. recommended satin pillowcases, because they cause less pulling on the hair when you toss & turn at night.

DH (also thinning) & I both have been using them ever since and we, personally, have seen a difference.

That in conjunction with 10,000 mcg. of Biotin a day, which he also recommended.

DH had a bald spot starting on the top of his head and it's filling in with a lot of new growth!

For me, I see a lot less shedding in the shower or when I brush my hair!

i find silk or satin sheets and pillowcases so uncomfortable. i dont necessarily believe the things that are said about using them. my mom will be 76 and she has GREAT skin......i chalk that up to good genes mostly......which i am hoping will pass along to me (so far so good. LOL)

i prefer microfiber sheets and pillowcases. that is all i buy now.

Silk just slips awy IME. The pillow escapes from my head and the sheets slip down.

You can wear a silk sleep cap, I bought one a few years ago for my long hair but it doesn't stay on my head the same way silk sheets slip. I just put my hair up in a protective style for sleeping.

Yeah me neither. I can't stand the feel of silk or satin near my face either for some reason.

I'm not buying into that wrinkles thing, I've heard it before and I don't believe it. But I do indeed believe that sleeping on a satin pillowcase reduces hair breakage and leaves hair smoother when we wake up. That's why there are so many satin line sleep caps and bonnets on the market. I have though about satin pillow cases to protect my hair, I just never got around to it.

Nope; too expensive for my budget.

But I did recently order Modal ones to help my hair health issues.

I'm a natural fiber girl (love cotton, etc.) and since Modal is more slippery than cotton sateen, it should work pretty well.

Hope to also try Tencel someday.
