Home manicure rave!

I love to get my mani-pedi's but my finger nails grow fast, and toe nails grow slowly. Ergo, I need to do my nails more often.

i use OPI most of the time, but being a framer & artist, I only get about 2 days out of DIY manicures!

Shopping for groceries last month, I saw a tower of "gel" polish for $1.99 per bottle. A color caught my eye so I got the color and the clear top coat. SINFULSHINE Step 1 and Step 2.

I am halfway into week 2 with my polish job!! I can't believe how well this has held up! I'm actually bored with the color by now! I haven't needed another grocery trip, but next time I go I will probably pick up 5-6 colors!

I use my hands a lot too. I never get more than 1 or 2 days with OPI without it starting to chip so I don't buy it anymore. I know people love it but for me it's overrated.

I use the Sally Hansen "gel" polishes and get 4 - 5 days without a chip.

I get pedicures but not manicures. My fingernails grow too fast to justify the cost. Gel manicures last me two weeks, but I don't like the way they have to scrape it off to remove it. It damages my nails. Do you have to remove the gel polish that you buy the same way?

Does the gel you diy require anything special to remove. I have only had one gel manicure. Guess I didn't pay attention when she did it but I thought it really lasted great until I went to remove it myself! Soaked my fingers in acetone for about two days. Never again as I do not go to the nail salon other than once a month for pedi.

I love Sally Hansen but they have very few colors comparatively.

I like OPI, Essie and Sinful. I start with two coats of an OPI base, then two coats of color, a Sally Hansen clear top coat and then Essie Good To Go, a fast dry gel-like coat.

I have very fragile and thin nails. The process above hardens them and they look good up to two weeks, depending on how much I use my hands.

@NickNack You can use regular remover but it definitely takes more to remove it. I did purchase a bottle of Cutex Spa Formula which is supposed to be for gel polish removal but haven't tried it yet.

Libbylady...I have been using Sinful nail polish for years and brought whichever color I wanted with me to my manicurist. Since my hip surgery in 2015 I have not been driving and miss being pampered and after reading your post I will check out the SINFULSHINE Step 1 and Step 2

I use acetone to remove gel polish. Providing there is no curing light involved, it can be removed like any other polish.

Here's a tip, ladies...

IMO the place to buy Sinful nail polish is Walgreens drugstore, in their beauty section.

Walgreens has an incredible selection of colors, including a section of Sinful colors ONLY CARRIED by Wallgreens. Sometimes they put that section in a different area so you have to ask or look for it.

I love the colors that are Walgreens only and they're always (that I've seen) $1.99 a bottle.

When I first saw them, I thought they couldn't be good at that price, but I was so drawn to the color I tried it out. Now I love them.
