Great point, mominohio. Sometimes I do that indadvertently, but with the paint post, I WAS hoping to get the most amount of input, therefore "Community Chat".

It's great to get a very broad cross-section of opinion on certain topics. Here's hoping enough people saw/will see that particular one, since I love to get feedback on others' experience with various paints...

I'd like the mods to consider that sometimes people start a thread here in Community, because it seems to get the largest amount of views and responses, and it brings in a bigger cross section of people than most of the 'smaller' forums.

Sometimes a poster is looking for advice/information/input from a much wider range of posters than can be found in say, holiday or home or jewelry, on a more general subject in that category.

A thread on favorite paint color was removed to 'Home' when maybe the poster was looking for a broader audience here, for example.

And if they are going to move threads that are posted here, to a more specific forum, please do it consistently (like why are there multiple Memorial Day threads here and not moved to 'Holiday').

I know I sometimes post things here specifically because I'm looking for a better cross section of responders than I'll find in the smaller, more defined forums. When the topic is broad enough, I wish they would leave it here, or be more consistent with the 'moving'.

I think it's futile (and probably unnecessary) to nitpick about threads in CC that belong in other forums since 99% of the threads started in CC can easily be assigned to another forum.,.. and if all those threads were placed in other forums, I don't think there'd be a heckuva lot going on in CC, so why not welcome all?

What irritates me is when a poster in CC makes a point of suggesting to someone who has chosen to post in CC, whose thread could be in another forum, that the poster "should have posted" in the other forum. I have noticed there is a bias in doing so... in that regular posters in CC are never told to post elsewhere. It's only the posters who are not regularly in CC who are told to post in another forum.

Hence, inconsistency arises due to some workdays being busier than others for the mods.

As for the Paint Color thread, this is a bit far afield from your post but sometimes there are so many "what are your favorite" or similar types of questions that I feel like this is a "survey" board.

I actually appreciate it when a thread is moved to its more targeted forum. A bigger audience in Community Chat is not necessarily an audience that would care, or have any insights, or experience about the specific topic. Community Chat may give it more "eyes" on the question/remark, but that doesn't mean it would get more helpful or interested "eyes" that can contribute a response.

I think, more times than not, those interested in that topic already routinely check out that specific thread.

There may be another factor in the moves or failure to move threads to the "appropriate" forum. I do know some of the forums have less activity than, say, CC or Among Friends. This is speculation, but the mods may want to keep CC clear of threads that are easily categorized in a less-used forum, like Home, to pare the monitoring demands of CC as much as possible.

I wouldn't blame that for that, and I don't blame them if such moves are hit or miss. I wouldn't have their jobs for the world.

I actually don't like when someone clearly knows they are posting in the wrong forum but do so anyway because the forum they are posting on "gets more eyes" (several posters do this frequently) What is the purpose of having subforums if people just ignore them and post whatever they want, where they want?

Also, some screamed for subforums (Nick Chavez forum is a good example) but because that forum is hardly visited, they start posting in the general beauty instead. If you are going to work hard in getting a subforum to chat with other like-minded people, then post in that forum. Actually I think if a subforum rarely gets activity, it should be removed. The very few people that do post on that forum would be fine just posting back in the regular beauty forum again I am sure. Especially if all they do is try to promote that brand anyway.

Like another poster mentioned, I don't like scrolling through a bunch of things I'm not interested and has nothing to do with, say, beauty, just to actually find a beauty post.

They should be deleted.

LOTS of inconsistency in the movement or non-movement of threads from community chat......certainly nothing that anyone would be able to figure out! i do think it is a bit frustrating.

Well, I for one, am happy coming here to see how all the people I have come to know are doing.

When I have a general question I prefer asking here so that the people I know can respond. It isn't a matter of "more eyes"

I do not go to an illness or wellness thread. That is a bit like reading the obituary. However, If someone that I post with often is not well; that relates to me and I care. I would feel terrible missing something like that.

We have for the most part shared in happy and sad days. And when one of us needs to seek support , it is nice to know that familiar people will respond.

So, in short, mods please don't be too quick to move all threads.
