For people with children........question.......

If you had to do it all over again, knowing what you know now, would you have children?

Acknowledging that some are estranged; some parents mistreated by their adult children, and so on..............if you had to live your life over again, would you have children or would you be "child-free?"

Of course. I always wanted kids and I'd have been heartbroken to not have any.

Absolutely! Without a doubt! We are never promised that life is easy. There are no easy absolutely perfect relationships. Our two sons gave us unbelieveable joy! (They weren't perfect, but neither were we!)

Can you even imagine being the child of a parent who if they could do it over would be "child free". Ya, that must feel good. not

And really if you're having kids because you want something from them, then you shouldn't have any. Their lives have a purpose that has nothing to do with their parents expectations.

I cannot imagine life without my children. It would be like living a life without sunshine or without the ocean or without coffee...lol I've been fortunate, I am grateful for that but we have had our ups and downs in life. I have a few regrets but my children are not one of them.

Absolutely. I can't imagine what our lives would have looked like without our two wonderful girls. My husband and I have talked about that periodically and that we would not have our wonderful grandchildren. He and I were both wired to be parents.

It was not always easy especially the teenage years but no regrets.

Have children. And if I couldn't have any, I would have adopted and/or become a foster parent.

Currently, I am still considering becoming a foster parent to infants up to toddlers. I have some more world travelling to do before I get serious about fostering.

There isn't a word that can describe how I feel about my four children. My ex and I were married six years before we were blessed with the first two, the next two were icing on the cake. There's nothing that I wouldn't do for them and they know it.

Oh, yes, we decided to adopt quite late (we were in our forties) by first becoming foster care parents. We couldn't really afford the other options, and we knew through friends that the county had many children that needed adoption.

We expected an older child, for obvious reasons, and we were surprised and thrilled when the social worker called and said "We have a beautiful baby boy for you".

I'll never forget those words.

I agree...I never knew what love was, until I had children.

I have a daughter and a son.

They are both so special; I've never met anyone like them before.

When I was a new parent, I read that, "having a child is like having your heart outside your body," and that is true.

Because it isn't just you anymore.

Someone means more to you, than you mean to yourself.

That's a thought provoking question. I would have to say yes. I have 2 daughters. We gave them the best, normal life we could. Did we make mistakes? Yes we did. My eldest is highly successful, has a wonderful husband and 2 boys. They are healthy and happy. My daughter though, has cut her self off from us and I don't know why. I have tried to reach out to no avail. My other daughter was hit by a car January 2016 and died instantly. Life as I knew it ended that day. She was 32. Let's just say my dreams for a close, normal, loving family didn't happen for us. All I ever wanted in life was a family who loved each other. The daughter I was close to is gone and my other daughter seems to not want much to do with us. My grands are far away. Not at all the "plan" I had dreamed of.

@YorkieonmyPillow We are going through really hard times with our daughterr and her husband right now, of course they are leaving us in the dark and refusing to even talk to us which makes the situation even worse, we spend endless days and nights asking what we did to deserve this kind of treatment , I spend my days crying, pulling my hair out, but above all praying for a solution to this situation!

Through all this heartache I could not ever imagine not having our daughter in our lives, she is our world, we love her unconditionally, I think back to all the hugs and kisses, the running to us calling us "Mommy & Daddy", I remember her 1st day of school, attending band concerts & parades, seeing her on stage when she performed in school plays, baking Christmas cookies together and leaving them out for Santa and then singing Christmas carols at the top of our lungs on Christmas Eve as we drove around looking at all the lights, I remember tucking her into bed at night, and all the little things inbetween.

YES I have grey hair because we chose to be parents, YES she has broken our hearts, but she is our little girl no matter how old she is, it is the one thing that we have done in our lives that we will never regret!

Raising my sons, much of it as a single mother, was the most rewarding experience of my life. Met many wonderful people and kids through them who I would never have met otherwise. We taught one another so much! There were times when I thought I would not have the privilege of being a mother. Was truly blessed with two great sons.

I wouldn't change a thing about my life. Whether I stumbled thru it blindly, jumped in thinking "I got this", or was carried thru it with only one set of footprints showing, I am happy, fulfilled, and truly blessed in the life I live.

I remember when my daughter was a baby, I realized that whatever happened to her, happened to me.....it was scary and very sobering. I had never loved anyone like that before.

Sometimes my daughter will say things like, "OMG I'm so fat," I just look at her and think, "OMG you are so beautiful."
