Does It Bother You

Does it bother you if someone starts a thread on a topic you have already started? I always make an effort to see if a thread has been posted before I'll start one. There are times when I have overlooked a thread, sometimes it can be further back and I won't see it. I have had people admonish me for it, I often apologize. It doesn't bother me, two people can have the same idea, to me it's not a big deal.

It happens and not on purpose. Sometimes you do not see the other thread. I can't see getting angry about it.

Yeah, it kinda does. It's not good internet etiquette to do that and most normal boards will combine threads if somebody does that.

It is also the #1 reason I don't start threads here.

Invariably, I'll start a thread with a very specific thread title (so there is no confusion as to EXACTLY what it's about) and two or more people will start the same exact thread afterward. It's not polite, but this board doesn't really mess with it so I usually keep my trap shut.

It's not as bad if it's in a different forum here, as long as it's not a thread-bombing, however. But my experience has been that I start a thread in, for example, the tv forum and within a day or two, even though it's still on the first page (even if not, most people search first), there will be 2 or more new threads in the same forum.

Some feel like they own the board and admonishes whoever. It's cyber bullying. You never know who is behind the name's and avatars.

Really you should not care what they think.

Every time I start a thread , somebody else does the same . LOL

One gal really gets her diaper in a pinch when she does a spoiler and somebody else few threads later does the same spoiler.

I go uh, oh, it's gonna hit the fan and it does.

I can see how it would be annoying if you get challenged.

It doesn't bother me on this board.

But on another board I'm on about every 10th post in one section is about "I just started skating and I want to become a professional skater / Olympic champion, etc. Am I too old?".

That forum has a very informative sticky post right at the top and yet people still ask that same question, each thinking their situation is unique. Sometimes posters never come back to acknowledge the answers and that's infuriating too as replies can be very thoughtful and detailed. Grrrr.

Some times it is good when multiple threads get started on the same topic so when one gets poofed everybody just moves on to another one talking about the same thing.

Now that we have mods that doesn't really work anymore.

I was once scolded for saying it was a beautiful day.

And I was once raked over the coals when I mentioned that I was a stay at home mom. This poster basically told me to get a job. LOL

(Interesting that she resented stay at home moms since she wasn't married and didn't have kids. She doesn't post too often anymore. Maybe it's because she knows she can't get away with being nasty anymore.)

@Daisy Sunflower....Wow. I believe it though. I have read many unkind comments over the years on these boards about SAHM's. Get a job??? Really??? That is full time job. Sorry you had to endure the rude comments.
