How many gifts in a year do you think you buy and give?

Been reading a lot of posts this a.m. and a number of them are about gifts. This question popped up to me, and I know we (as a shrinking family) don't have many to buy for any more. Soon there will be graduations, weddings, etc.

So my question is, how many gifts in say, this year, will you have/be buying to give?

Very, very few. Probably less than 5. My circle of friends and family aren't gifters. If there's something we need or want, we get it ourselves.

My friends and I have agreed to get together for a nice lunch or dinner for our birthdays and get together at Christmas and share a nice lunch or dinner - no more birthday gifts for each other, just have a nice day together or go to like an herb farm together. One friend insists on buying me gifts for Christmas, so we exchange gifts. So basically one gift.

Probably to many!! DH & I just had that conversation over the weekend.People we never hear from invite us to their events.We think it's because we are generous gift givers.

We made a decision that we will only attend those events for people who we associate with regularly. If by some chance we can't attend an event that we want to go to we will of course send a gift.Otherwise,we will no longer send gifts along with regrets!

Now that I’m older and retired, I mostly exchange cards with family/friends. The only person I send gifts to is my mother. She struggles financially so I try to send her whatever she needs.

25+ gifts a year, excluding christmas.

if i include christmas then it would definitely be much higher.

Just off the top of my head, probably 20-25 - maybe a few more.

I'm not including Christmas in that number.

Zero! Very small family, even DH and I do not exchange gifts. We spend the money on travel.

Excluding Christmas, I'd say it would average 20 gifts per year (not 20 people though, as I tend to give my mom at least four gifts for her birthday and Mother's Day, and probably that many to my son as well).

This year? A lot because we have been invited to a number of weddings and graduation parties.

On average? Not many. Only my sister and I do b-day gifts for each other. I don't exchange with friends or other family members.

My side of the family long ago gave up exchanging x-mas gifts as well. Only my sister and I do and then we do exchange with more on DH's side but still all total, I buy for 5 people plus my DH.

I give actual birthday gifts to 8 people.

We give money to my niece and two nephews for birthdays. Same on birthdays for my two stepsons.

We give actual Christmas gifts to quite a few people. The list has gotten smaller through the years through attrition, but it's a substantial list.

I have no plans to stop. I actually really enjoy giving gifts. It brings ME joy.

i do also @gidgetgh. i am also a "just because" gift-giver.....no special day necessary.

Countless amount... I have a little grandson and love giving him gifts in addition to my family. I like the entire process of gift giving and finding just the right present.

For sure over 25, I have 3 grandchildren and two daughters and son in laws, a mom and a husband, that I buy Birthday gifts for. This number does not include Christmas!I also have 3 sisters and a brother, and we all exchange small birthday gifts....

Most of my friends and I do this same thing. I probably buy 4 gifts a year for two friends, for Christmas and birthdays. I don't exchange gifts with anyone in my family either.

Not counting Christmas or immediate family's birthdays, not many at all. Some years are lots of weddings/showers; some none at all.
