...and other items.

I mentioned in a past post the bag of Dove chocolates that weighed less but contained the same number of chocolates because they reduced the size of each piece. As we all know, there are many more examples.

I just purchased a bottle of dishwashing detergent--same price, 30-oz instead of the 32-oz bottle I still have at home. I noticed the lesser amount right away, but the bottle seemed to be the same size. When I got home, I put them next to each other and sure enough--instead of making the bottle shorter, they made it less-deep ("skinnier"). Same price, of course.

Classico basil pesto sauce is another one. I use this a lot, and liked the 12-oz jar. Now it's 8-oz, same price.

One of the worst offenders have been the yogurt manufacturers. My brand, like most others, downsized from 8-oz to 6-oz years ago. I always notice how ridiculous Jamie Lee Curtis looks holding that 4-oz container of Activia with her fingertips because it would disappear in her hand. I have news for these people: if they ever decide to downsize these individual containers of yogurt (which I like for convenience) to 4-oz, I'll be buying the large economy size and portioning out what I want.

IMO, this downsizing is nothing more than a stealth price increase.
