Pippa Wants Wedding Guests To Change Clothes

I saw an article today that said Pippa wants all the people at the wedding ceremony to change their clothes before the reception. The article didn't mention if she was going to provide storage space and/or dressing rooms. Have any of you ever heard of anything like this? In my opinion she is going a bit overboard and she isn't even royalty.

I was one of those "always a bridesmaid" girls decades ago. In Catholic weddings (and I assume Anglican are the same).......there were only morning masses for weddings. No "questionable" clothing was allowed in church. If it was a formal evening reception, everybody went home and changed clothes for the formal affair at a hotel or country club.

I realize "times have changed"...........

I don't think that's anything strange. When our son was Bar Mitzvah, we had a black tie optional party following: I changed clothes between the service (Synagogue) and party, as did everybody else....I didn't have to tell people how to dress either.

Yes, I've heard of it. My husband and I have attended several weddings over the years in different areas of the country where this was the tradition. The first time it happened, we were both so surprised, lol! And those bridal/wedding shows have shown some women buying 2 dresses for years, too. Although at the "clothes-changing" weddings I've attended, it's only been the guests, and not the bridal party.

Not strange to me as I've been to weddings where this happened. I know of many other weddings (that I couldn't/didn't attend) where this happened as well. You have time between the functions and it's usually at the hotel or close to where the guests are staying. No issues.

One would hope that is the case. I'd like a wedding that asks guests to change into super casual at the reception. That would be fine with me.

As bridal requests go, I don't think this one is any big deal. In fact, if they plan to dress down, I think it's a plus!!

I read that she's also putting a "no ring, no bring" policy in place meaning guests can't bring their significant other to the wedding unless they're married or engaged...do do do do.....

Never had to change clothes between a ceremony and the reception. strange IMO

I'm British and think a change of clothes at a wedding isn't unusual. It's less common now but it still happens.

I've changed outfit at several U.K. weddings.

I don't understand why reporters are making such a big deal of this unless they have only ever attended more casual themed weddings, in which case you can get away with one less formal outfit for the day.

But if it is a dressy wedding, as I imagine this one will be, a formal wedding ceremony outfit isn't the best for dancing and having fun in the evening.

There are some strange rules for weddings these days. I heard that Pippa was planning a "no ring/no bring" wedding ... meaning that if you do not have a wedding or engagement ring, you cannot bring a guest. (Harry is the exception. She is letting him bring Meghan.) I guess this is a method of keeping the cost down. What? The Middleton's can't afford an extra few plates at the dinner?

What single person would want to go to a wedding without a date or at least bring a close friend along? What if you are coming from out of town and don't know anybody else...such as old college friend. Not everyone is extroverted and would mingle in well with a bunch of strangers. If I were single and invited to a wedding like that, I would send my regrets. If the hosts aren't concerned about their guests feeling at ease, I guess they don't deserve to have their presence either.

The no ring no bring is said to be for the church. It's their small family village church that couldn't hold all those plus ones. The reception is supposed to be in her parents backyard. At their 80 acre estate.

When there's a long time frame between ceremony and reception, that's the norm. You wear something nice to Mass or service, go home (NAP lol) and then change into something glitzy for the reception.

It doesn't sound strange to me. Many people wear one outfit for church and one for the reception.

I bet it's going to be a fabulous wedding! I can't wait to see pictures.
