Does anyone understand exactly what the television ads for perfume are trying to convey? I can't connect what they are showing vs the perfume. Climbing sheets, jumping out of windows to ride off on a motorcycle, breaking invisible chains???

I never really get them either apart from the overall mood (romantic,girly,exotic, etc) that might tell you what the perfume will smell like. I find most of them to be silly.

You're joking...right? They haven't invented smellivision yet; so, they have to rely on memories, emotions, experiences, hopes, desires etc etc etc to sell their products.

Or they could show a bouquet of peonies and that would let you know the fragrance smells like peonies.

When hosts on shopping channels sell fragrance, they don't put on little plays to do it.

And how do these artsy commercials sell the fragrance? I have never once seen an artsy fragrance commercial and thought, "I've gotta try that perfume."

I absolutely must laugh when perfum/cologne makers talk about the layers of notes they combine. So many of the flowers they use have no scent at all. I don't get it.
